Who would you prefer to be your child's teacher?

A gay Christian
A Muslim
A Mormon
A Jehovah's Witness
A fundamentalist Christian, previously accused of child abuse, before being "born again".

Why is this question offensive? Some said gay Christian is an oxymoron...but, I am gay and Christian...and no one should stand in judgement of another's heart...

Anyway, just curious...as to why someone would report this question.

No idea why it was deleted - and I can't choose based on the information provided because there's just too many other factors (as in qualifications, for one) to consider. If it's a public school, religion isn't allowed in the classroom, so I guess it wouldn't matter.

Just because you're gay doesn't mean you can't be a Christian. Christians aren't perfect - but God sees them as perfect "IN CHRIST". We have ALL sinned, and Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for all of our sins; past, present, and future. Yes, we have to repent of our sin in order to be forgiven, but the Holy Spirit will burden our hearts about our sins in GOD'S time. God is the ONLY judge - only HE knows a person's heart, so He is the only one qualified to judge!

God bless!

Not sure why. I answered the question, and don't know what the violation could have been. The only ones who know for sure are the MODs and the person who posted it. Here was my answer to the question:

By and large it depends on what is being taught, and where I am during the instructing. Case in point, many public school teachers have differing faiths, beliefs, backgrounds and the like. As for your options I would, assuming said person knew the subject, choose the Jehovah's Witness. For a few reasons.

For one thing, the first option is an oxymoron. If the teacher was Christian then they would certainly never perform homosexual acts. So even if he/she were interested in others of the same gender it is doubtfull anyone would even know.

As for the last choice, being accused does not mean guilt. A friend's sister used to accuse guys of things, ALLOT, sadly she might have been telling the truth in ONE or TWO of the cases, however because she made things up so often the Judge didn't even seem to consider that she was being honest. So Firstly, it would greatly depend on the allegations, the validity of the allegations, and how things settled. As for deciding to try to change their life, more power to him/her. I do think the person would need extra scrutiny for both the protection of the kid, and for the protection of the person, assuming he/she is innocent.

As for the 3 middle choices. All 3 have members who are intelligent decent people. I chose Witness because as one, I know we strive to be honest, and also I know that if for some reason belief should come up as an issue, I would already know where the teacher was coming from.

Let my try to answer your original question:
What other facts would you need to determine the appropriateness?
How old are the children? Very young children are very impressionable.
How qualified are the teachers? In most any state, teaching any type of christianity, even from a historical perspective, is unlawful. Curiously so is teaching of evolution in some areas.
The question smacks of a little paranoia - "Would these people 'indoctrinate' my children away from 'my' way?"
As a Gay christian (with children?), who would you be most comfortable with?
Mormons are notoriously anti-gay, as are most hardcore christians and muslims. I can't answer for JW's, but I personally have reservations against with anyone with a child abuse background.
As for the current question: There are 'moral 'terrorists' out there that are offended by the Teletubbies, so your question might bring out some 'bad thoughts', and they will go to hell for it. So, better you should go instead...
Cheers

Well, perhaps the question should have been posted in the Polls and Surveys and you posted it in R&S?

I know there are alot of people out there reporting questions for no good reason. In a couple of my questions boldly announcing myself as an atheist has gotten them deleted simply because someone thought it great fun to do so...

Good Luck, and for the record, I would take the gay christian over all of the above named for a teacher of my children.

EDIT: Oh, my. I guess I must have offended someone...

Just to set the record straight, though, I have four little girls, and I am a woman. I am not bashing any of the others listed, with exception of the last. I know I had numerous crushes on my male teachers and know that my daughters will too.

With all of the misconduct regarding teachers in general, I would feel safer knowing that if they had a crush on a male teacher, he would not reciprocate. Does that make any sense?

***Also, I have many gay and bi friends and love all dearly. I feel that their being put through so much strife has made them much better people than alot of others.

You should be very proud of your achievements, though at times they probably seem very insignifigant. Keep it up!

Considering religion is not supposed to be taught in schools, I suppose that any of the above could make a fine teacher as long as they were educated properly and left religion at the door.

As for gay, sexuality as well as religion should be left at the door... what one person does in the confines of his or her private bedroom, or kitchen or living room is no body's business.

I do have to admit that the "previously accused of child abuse" makes me nervous. I suppose this this person was only accused of and not convicted of... I just don't like the thought that a person could harm my child or anothers.

I personally think it is a fair question that does not overstep bounds any more so than some others have!

I think the gay Christian would be my preference - more likely to be open minded than any of the other choices. I don't want my kids around fundies of any kind, and definitely not around child molestors. I don't care if the man has been "saved," he's still a predator.

I suppose the rest of my choices would be:
Muslim
Mormon
Jehovah's Witness
in that order.

I don't know, religion is a touchy subject to people. Maybe the fundamentalist christian part who was accused of child abuse.

Godschild--- Saying "you can't be a christian and gay because it is a sin" is like saying "you can't be a christian because you lied, cheated, stole" Just because a person sins doesn't mean they can't be a christian. You aren't loving your neighbor so maybe YOU aren't a christian. Man- like it's some kind of exclusive club or something.

The reason it was deleted was because you're asking people to be racist in a way.... like asking if you'd want an African American, Native American, or Caucasion to be your child's spiritual advisor. But to answer the question that got deleted, I'd prefer to have a teacher for my child that is like Bill Cosby. Someone who cares for my child and has my child's learning in his/her mind. Other than that i don't care about their race creed color nor religion nor sexual preference, unless their sexual preference is children. As for the stupidity of that question....do you have children? if not, have some and you wont need to ask why it was reported.

Absolutely none of the above....my children attend private schools. Reprobates should not be teaching our Christian children.

I have no idea why someone would report that question. There is nothing offensive about it.
