A theory I've had...one of many to be sure......
Lucifer is actually the "good" guy and God is the evil one.
The saying goes "the victor writes the history" (or something like that)
So with this in mind, who's to say that the part about Lucifer losing was true, but because God won, he wrote is as though Lucifer was the evil one.
Lucifer, after having lost, tempted God's people and got them to eat from the tree of knowledge so that humans could decide for themselves instead of blindly following God.
Perhaps Lucifer is the savior of humankind after all. lol
Like I said, its only a theory.

Satan, being a spirit, is neither male nor female. However, like his Creator, Satan is usually referred to as a masculine being. Many believe that Satan, or the Devil as he is often called, can "possess" human beings. Possession is bodily invasion by the devil. The Catholic Church still performs exorcisms on those considered to be possessed. Jesus is said to have cast out demons, i.e., performed exorcisms, and the Church considers itself to have been given this same power by Jesus. Throughout the centuries, many pious religious people have erroneously considered those with certain mental or physical illnesses to be possessed by Satan.

Satan is made up like his pal Santa, though both may have ties to that religion called Christianity. Neither's story appears in their bible book. Eg. Lucifer, the bearer of light, a name used for the morning star and jesus too. only appears in the old testament due too some editing to "spice it up" and some dodgy translation!

The question presupposes that God is unable to stop the devil so He is forced to stoop to low tactics. I think you vastly underestimate God's power. If you believe there is a devil and a God, then you must wish to rewrite what history has shown of their characters. You may attempt to do so if you wish, but in order to be at all credible, you need to put something forth more substantial than your bald assertion.

'Satan' is from the imagination of men desiring to control the people through fear of an imaginary place.

No. He is a small thing God thought was beautiful who got jealous and tried to trick man into thinking he was worthy to be worshiped. He got a little too big for his britches.

No sweetie.
Satan defied God and challenged his sovereignty and right to rule humans. He was jealous, and wanted some power and glory to belong to him.
