Hi, I'm having a general blood test this thursday (24th May), and I smoked a joint on friday night. They're running tests to see if I have a thyroid problem/anaemia etc. I'm not a regular user, I haven't had some for about a month and a half before that. Will it show up in the tests, and if it does, do they have any standing to tell the police? Thanks :)!!

Thanks to everyone! I didn't think it would show up but I'm relieved a doctor wouldn't be obliged to tell the police.
I barely ever smoke (like probably only about 4 spliffs in my life!) because I know it's stupid, but every now and then I think it's acceptable if you're sensible! But check out my other question if you like :) thanks everyone!

It would show up if they were testing for it, but they won't test for it if you're getting medical tests done.
And even if they did, it's confidential between you and your doctor, so they couldn't tell the police.
You should tell your doctor that you're an occasional user anyway... Don't worry..it's only for your medical info and he won't and can't tell anyone else about it.

Well, if all theyre checking for is routine blood work for anemian and thyroid, it probably will not show up. But if this is for employment and theyre specifically doing a drug test, then u can count ur chickens that they will find out. If it does come up on a blood test, they may or may not have a standing to tell the police, but that depends on where u work. So good luck, and stop smoking weed! It does nothing beneficial for you, hun, only consequences. God Bless.,

It depends on what kind of blood test they are doing. If they are just checking for anaemia they should just poke your finger to chech you level of iron. I don't know what kind of test they would do for thyroid. But I think you should be alright on the weed part. And they don't have the right to tell the police that they found weed in your system. There is doctor patient privilage. Hope everything turns out find.

They won't be doing a drug test for that, so it won't show up. I smoke regularly, and had to have some blood tests done at the doctor, and that didn't come up. Even if they were doing a drug test for employment or something, and it showed up, all that would happen is that you wouldn't get the job. They don't turn that sort of stuff over to the police.

The presence of THC (the substance actually tested for can show up in blood. However, a drug screen is not a normal test a Dr. performs. Furthermore, the Dr. should inform you as to what they are testing for. It is mor liekly than not that your Dr. has no intention to perform a drug screen.
Additionally, you and your Dr have what is called Dr/patient privilege. Your Dr. cannot provide others with information you provide him, unles certain conditions are met (you are athreat to a particulat individual, you have HIV, in which case a specific report must be made, etc.)

it is going to show up on the test for real. it would show even if yo inhale smoke from weed. you know like beening in the car when someone is smoking...but don't worry they might just tell you to come back in a month or so, so it will get out your system, but it will stay in your hair for years.

yes it will because sometimes they also do urine test and the nicotine shows up in the blood so if you are going to smoke do it weeks before you get a blood test because it can show up...

Well they are taking the tests to see thyorid problems, so you dont have to wory about the weed problems here. If they do find out, its no big deal, they wont even tell you about it nor will they call the cops. They cant do that.

Yes, it shows up in blood and urine tests, and remains in the hair shaft / follicle for up to 3 months.
I don't believe they have any reason to notify the police, but I don't know what the reporting laws are in your state.
Stop using drugs they're BAD for you!

If they're just checking for the thyroid and anemia, you'll be fine. And no, even if it did show up, the can't call the cops.
