Any website where you can key in your credentials and it finds scholarship matches for you?! Any specifically for single moms? I live in GA

thanks!

Yes there are definitely scholarships available for single parents and many scholarships take overall financial need into high consideration as well. You can start out your scholarship search at http://www.scholarshipexperts.com and http://www.AIE.org and http://www.fastweb.com.

Try using multiple databases, and then pay special attention to any results that are only for people in your city or state or the exact school you want to go to. These will have the least competition and the best odds of winning, even if you only find a few per search.

If you know what you want to major in, that will help you get more good results in your searches and those awards tend to have a little better odds too.

There are several options for single moms to locate financial aid out there. Each method does not cost any money to apply for consideration, and I recommend using several different methods to loate money for college tuition. I will also include a resource to help you start saving money for your child's education, too.

First, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will list scholarships, too.

Second, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Third, a campus work study job can help with money needed during the school year. The program is funded by the federal government. It will be a job on campus and most times can work to your availability schedule. There should be a box on the FAFSA form for it.

Fourth, fill out the FAFSA form after January 1 of prior to entering college. It will qualify her for need based financial aid from the federal government and the school itself. It will come in the form of scholarships, Pell Grant, student loans, and the work study program.

Fifth, some companies do offer a tuition reimbursement program. Check with your human resources office for more information.

Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites. There are scholarships for a variety of things including ethnicity, clubs, hobbies, and even wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered onto a form on the website.

Good luck!

Here are some scholarships that are specifically for women returning to school after taking time off and for single moms:

http://www.raisethenation.org/index.cfm?fa=scholarship.grants
http://www.executivewomen.org/scriptcontent/aboutus/scholarship.cfm
http://www1.talbots.com/about/scholar/scholar.asp

The Raise the Nation program in particular has programs for single mothers, so definitely look at that one.

You should also search some of the online scholarship databases, such as www.scholarshipexperts.com, www.fastweb.com, and www.schoolsoup.com-- you can search for scholarships based on your interests and goals, and also based on your unique circumstances (including the fact that you're a single mother).

I've seen listings in the past for grants that help students pay for childcare while they're in school, for example, so there's definitely stuff out there.

It's also worth looking in scholarship books-- you can find them in your local library or bookstore, and use the index to focus your search.

Be sure to file your FAFSA each year in time for your state's deadline so you can be considered for state and federal financial aid (grants, subsidized loans, etc). That'll help out, as well.

Good luck in your search and your studies!

To receive any kind of financail aid- you need to complete a FAFSA using your tax information. this can be found at https://fafsa.ed.gov/

Then you need to contact the specific school you wish to go to and ask them which scholarships or grants you qualify for. Your school will know the most about which ones you should apply for.
