YES! Cold cuts purchased from a deli (where they slice it for you) should be eaten within 2-3 days!

Quit buying yoru meat at the deli and buy it already packaged in the cold cuts section of the store. It should last a week or so.

bacteria growth and the water content in the ham are the cause for all the slimey/slippery feel. It's starting to get bad but it hasn't gone to the stage of inedible/mouldy.

Once it starts to get slippery, it's best if you fry the slices up nicely before eating them. Better to throw it away but people I know have done that and haven't had any problems after consuming it.

If you've got a weak stomach then best just to just throw them away.

If its slippery or smelly toos it. Lunch meat is good for 3 to 5 days. The paper tin slices will go first.

It's probably just the gelatin, used as a binder in many ham based foods. It is also used to up the weight of the product with a much lower cost ingredient.

i have no idea. i guess partially bad. but my family eats expired food and all that - just as long as it doesn't smell rotten.

so what we do with slippery ham is that we wash it under the tap, dab with kitchen towels, and fry them up in a pan. still edible!

I usually chuck them at that point.
They're not totally spoiled, but not fresh either.

Get rid of 'em.
