wasn't the pre-race actvities the biggest joke ever too?

I noticed also. As far as DW, I think he adds flair to the commentating. I agree with much of what David B said. And yes the commercials are ridiculous. Qualifying is just as bad, standing there talking about nonsense while cars are on the track. NASCAR is changing and not for the better. As for ABC coverage, just wait till the race really runs over it's alloted time, they WILL cut a race off to show whatever other sport (golf) was sched. to come on. They had the contract years ago and did this more than once. That's part of the reason they lost the contract then. Dale Sr. must be rolling over in his grave over all the "rules" Nascar makes up as they go along. It's not racing anymore and France & Co. need to wake up and smell the empty seats.

There were lots, but I'm sure that won't be the case for the 600 next week. Also, some people skipped the Open, a/k/a the No Stars Race.

I liked the pre-race introductions, especially when Kurt Busch blew a kiss! Just wish they'd varied that drumbeat a bit.

it won't be able to be any of those 3. the lads who has the proper threat and are on warm streaks are Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. it particularly is Jimmie's song (Kahne became a fluke there and sucks this year) and he will dominate the all famous person race AND the Coca-Cola six hundred. Mark Martin a 2-time winner is a miserable horse. If I had to %. out of those 3 i assume i might %. Kenseth basically simply by fact he's so dang consistent.

There sure were a lot of empty seats. Only Na$car is to blame. They keep insisting on "fixing things that ain't broke". The new format sucked. The pre-race sucked. One of the worst National Anthems I've ever heard (only Rosanne Barr's was worse as far as I'm concerned).
And I certainly agree with the young lady's comment about DW. He always has been a joke.
Listen to what Tony Stewart says (or said before Na$car put a muzzle on him)... Na$car & Nextel is turning stock car racing into a dog and pony show, and their concern isn't us fans.... it's the almighty dollar. Or as Smoke put it... it's getting to be like wrestling.

I noticed the empty seats big time. There wasn't alot of people sitting in turn 4. I was in between turns 3 and 4 and there was some empty seats beside of us. I was kinda surprised. Bet they're packed this weekend tho!!

Usually they shut down large sections of the track for Busch or Truck races if they know they wont sell them. The stands were stil 70%-80% full. That place holds 171, 000 so its nothing to be ashamed about. Next week will be full and 5 times longer.
