the average panic attack is self limiting, it lasts as long as the effects of adrenaline in the system. So on average a panic attack will not last longer than fifteen or twenty minutes. So, when you feel one coming on, begin doing relaxation breathing and sit quietly while it passes.

Panic attacks only last a couple of minutes. Panic attacks are sometimes mistaken for heart attacks and heart attacks are mistaken for panic attacks. You should really be seen by a dr. to find out just what it is that your having, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

i used to have panic attacks, for about 3 months i took medication to control them then i talked to my doctor about other ways to control it without medication. when i had panic attacks it always felt like i couldnt breathe, my heart would be pounding, couldnt sit still. my doctor told me when i would start a panic attack to get up and move, do dishes, take a short walk, just keep moving until the extra adrenaline is burned up. which doing that has worked for me for about 2 years now i dont take medication anymore. my sister has a masters degree in social work and told me that some of her clients find that masturbation has worked for them when they are having panic attacks, which is another healthy way to deal with panic. hope this helps and good luck
