Didn't get anything the last time I posted. Hopefully, I get something this time. Just anything that a NON-MUSLIM can learn from.

IMPORTANT!

Please state the specific sura and the specific verses and quote them in FULL! I thank you for not being lazy. :)

Dharmana: Please show me where, don't just say you can surely find something. I have read the bible and it does have good things to learn from like the parable of the Good Samaritan, ie love thy neighbor, ie anyone, even a stranger of a different race or faith. But I have gone through the Quran and I don't see anything that is even remotely worth mentioning, so I would like someone who can point out something from the Quran worth learning.

Brittany: PLEASE DON"T BE LAZY AND QUOTE THE AYAT IN FULL!!!!! And while we are on it, don't tell me things that is already in a science textbook. Who in the right mind is going to learn science from the Quran? Anything about morality? About loving your neighbor regardless of his/her faith?

fai yedga: No it doesn't say that, who are you trying to kid. Show me the ayat that says its so.

Eve: There is nothing for me to learn in what you have quoted, it just says that muslims will get the nice things while non-muslims will get none of it. So as a non-muslim, there is nothing to learn from such a verse.

Jaicee: So, there is only 1 God. What can I learn from that? Other religions also say that there is only 1 God. So what so special about that? What is so good about that? Nothing!

Sure! As someone else mentioned, there's rarely, if at all, a holy text that you can't learn SOMETHING from! Here are some verses for you, I hope you're up for reading!:

2:177 True piety does not consist in turning your faces towards the east or the west - but truly pious is he who believes in God, and the Last Day; and the angels, and revelation, and the prophets; and spends his substance - however much he himself may cherish it - upon his near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer, and the beggars, and for the freeing of human beings from bondage; and is constant in prayer, and renders the purifying dues; and [truly pious are] they who keep their promises whenever they promise, and are patient in misfortune and hardship and in time of peril: it is they that have proved themselves true, and it is they, they who are conscious of God.

3:66 Lo! You are the ones who would argue about that which is known to you; but why do you argue about something which is unknown to you? Yet God knows it, whereas you do not know

3:130 O YOU who have attained to faith! Do not gorge yourselves on usury, doubling and re-doubling it - but remain conscious of God, so that you might attain to a happy state

4:36 AND WORSHIP God [alone], and do not ascribe divinity, in any way, to aught beside Him. And do good unto your parents, and near of kin, and unto orphans, and the needy, and the neighbour from among your own people, and the neighbour who is a stranger, and the friend by your side, and the wayfarer, and those whom you rightfully possess. Verily, God does not love any of those who, full of self-conceit, act in a boastful manner.

4:114 NO GOOD comes, as a rule, out of secret confabulations - saving such as are devoted to enjoining charity, or equitable dealings, or setting things to rights between people: and unto him who does this out of a longing for God's goodly acceptance We shall in time grant a mighty reward.

4:135 O YOU who have attained to faith! Be ever steadfast in upholding equity, bearing witness to the truth for the sake of God, even though it be against your own selves or your parents and kinsfolk. Whether the person concerned be rich or poor, God's claim takes precedence over [the claims of] either of them. Do not, then, follow your own desires, lest you swerve from justice: for if you distort [the truth], behold, God is indeed aware of all that you do!

5:8 O YOU who have attained to faith! Be ever steadfast in your devotion to God, bearing witness to the truth in all equity; and never let hatred of any-one lead you into the sin of deviating from justice. Be just: this is closest to being God-conscious. And remain conscious of God: verily, God is aware of all that you do.

5:32 Because of this did We ordain unto the children of Israel that if anyone slays a human being-unless it be [in punishment] for murder or for spreading corruption on earth-it shall be as though he had slain all mankind; whereas, if anyone saves a life, it shall be as though he had saved the lives of all mankind. And, indeed, there came unto them Our apostles with all evidence of the truth: yet, behold, notwithstanding all this, many of them go on committing all manner of excesses on earth.

11:85 Hence, O my people, [always] give full measure and weight, with equity, and do not deprive people of what is rightfully theirs, and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption.

17:23 for thy Sustainer has ordained that you shall worship none but Him. And do good unto [thy] parents. Should one of them, or both, attain to old age in thy care, never say to them a word of contempt nor scold them, but [always] speak unto them with reverent speech.

17:36 And pursue not that of which thou hast no knowledge; for every act of hearing, or of seeing or of (feeling in) the heart will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning).

23:96 [But whatever they may say or do,] repel the evil [which they commit] with something that is better: We are fully aware of what they attribute [to Us].

30:21 And among His wonders is this: He creates for you mates out of your own kind so that you might incline towards them, and He engenders love and tenderness between you: in this, behold, there are messages indeed for people who think!

41:34 But [since] good and evil cannot be equal, repel thou [evil] with something that is better and lo! he between whom and thyself was enmity [may then become] as though he had [always] been close [unto thee], a true friend!

43:88-89 [But God has full knowledge of the true believer] and of his [despairing] cry: “O my Sustainer! Verily, these are people who will not believe!” Yet bear thou with them, and say, “Peace [be upon you]!” - for in time they will come to know [the truth].

49:11 O YOU who have attained to faith! No men shall deride [other] men: it may well be that those [whom they deride] are better than themselves; and no women [shall deride other] women: it may well be that those [whom they deride] are better than themselves. And neither shall you defame one another, nor insult one another by [opprobrious] epithets: evil is all imputation of iniquity after [one has attained to] faith; and they who [become guilty thereof and] do not repent - it is they, they who are evildoers!

49:12 O you who have attained to faith! Avoid most guesswork [about one another] for, behold, some of [such] guesswork is [in itself] a sin; and do not spy upon one another, and neither allow yourselves to speak ill of one another behind your backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, you would loathe it! And be conscious of God. Verily, God is an acceptor of repentance, a dispenser of grace!

53:28 and [since] they have no knowledge whatever thereof, they follow nothing but surmise: yet, behold, never can surmise take the place of truth.

109:1 SAY: "O you who deny the truth! I do not worship that which you worship, and neither do you worship that which I worship! And I will not worship that which you have [ever] worshipped, and neither will you [ever] worship that which I worship. Unto you, your moral law, and unto me, mine!"

Sorry, I don't know too much about specifics, but Islam is actually a quite beautiful religion, and yet there are a few nutty things in the Qu'ran but so does the Bible. There is one book called "This Is the Truth" by Abdullah M. Al-Rehaili that points out exremely accurate scientific explanations for natural phenomena in the the Qu'ran, like the developement of a fetus from conception to birth. It's absolutely amazing. Don't be discourage by other people's negative comments. I'm Jewish and I can even see past all the chaos and psychos. Most Muslims are good people. It's just the jackasses who get everyone's attention.

First of all, how to be non muslim the same time ur name is ali??? seems it s strange...
Any way, sth u can learn as a non muslim from Quran that is:
"Say, "Who prohibited the nice things God has created for His creatures, and the good provisions?" Say," such provisions are to be enjoyed in THIS life by those who BELIEVE. Moreover, the good provisions will be exclusively theirs on the Day of resurrection." We thus explain the revelations for people who know." 7:32 (QURAN)

Cheers!

The Quran says that for a man to get married to more than one wife, he must have equal love and feelings for all of them. That is a very important message for those men in Africa and the Middle East who practice polygamy. Unfortunately, I can't quote the sura nor the verse.

The Quran is the masterpiece of the Arabic language. It is the standard by which all Arabic is measured. It's full of fascinating and enlightening verses words. Although I'm not Muslim and I don't read Arabic, I can still appreciate the beauty of its translated words and learn from its message, just as with any holy book from the world's great religious traditions.

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Say: He is God alone:

God the eternal!

He begetteth not, and He is not begotten;

And there is none like unto Him.

They will say:"We stayed a day or part of a day:But ask those who keep account."

"For the Unbelievers [Christians & Jews] are unto you open enemies." (Sura 4:101)

Helped me realize how much Islam needs to change some of its teachings and traditions. May be they were right during the time of Muhammad but are they still needed now? How can we have peace when you have many Suras like that in the Quran? Just thinking.

Peace and blessings!

I realize now that you already have your mind made up and were to lazy your self to look up my other scriptures. So this is how I feel about the whole subject now:

Hud: 11: 118-123 If your Rabb had so willed, He would have certainly made mankind one single nation but that is not what He wants, so they will not cease to differ except those on whom He has bestowed His mercy; and that very freedom of choise and action is the whole purpose of their creation. That is how the Word of your Rabb, that He will fill Hell with jinns and human beings all together, will be fulfilled. All these stories of the prior Rasools that We relate to you (O Muhammad) are to strengthen your heart therewith; through these there has come to you the truth, and an admonition and a reminder fro the believers. As for those who are unbelievers say to them: "Do whatever you want, and so shall we. Wait if you will! Surely, we too shall wait." Allah alone has the knowledge of what is hidden in the heavens and the earth, and everything shall ultimately return to Him for decision; There fore worship Him and put your trust in Him, and your Rabb is not unmindful of what you do.

Probably, although I've not read any of it. There's a lot of good moral stories in the bible, even though I don't subscribe to the central messages. You can pick up valuable stuff from almost any book, whether it is holy, factual or fiction.

Thanks for not being lazy?!!

The only way for you to know if there is anything valuable you can get from the Quran, is by reading it yourself! Thanks for not being lazy!
Of course this is on the assumption that you are a "non-muslim"
Perhaps i am wrong....but then you wouldnt be asking the question then would you?

apparently you can learn how to kill your neighbor by stoning, beheading, or exploding. the last one makes me wonder though because when the koran was written, there were no explosives around. go figure.
