It sounds like "growing pains"...
Often when a quick growth spurt occurs, the joints are stressed and can become painful. This happens all through childhood and even through adolescents!

You may want to call the doctor and see if there is anything they can do to alleviate the pain. Cool compresses should help.

This should not last more than a week or so. If it does, I would definitely contact your pediatrician.

My youngest son would tell me that. Eventually, I took him to the Doctor, and he was diagnosed with Osgood Schlatters Disease. It is basically growing pains. He was growing fast and it put stress on his bones in his knees. It is not a fatal disease, just growing. This was about 12 years ago though. I'm not even sure if I spelled it right. He outgrew it. It stops when he stopped growing. He is 21 now.

Might get it checked out just in case. My daughter is also 2.5 and she constantly tells me her bottom hurts, we took her to the doctor and nothing is wrong, he said it is probably for attention, since that is exactly what she gets when she tells us it hurts, he said its highly common at that age to "fake" injury
