According to studies at Tufts University in Boston,if I am right one cup of green tea has more antioxidant power against the peroxyl radical, the most common type of free radical in your body, than a serving of broccoli, carrots, spinach, or strawberries.
Green tea brims with cancer-fighters. Green tea antioxidants block cancer by preventing damage to cell DNA, and studies are revealing that green tea has powerful effects in reducing the rate and severity of many types of cancer, including breast, skin, stomach, lung, colon, prostate, and possibly even skin cancer. In addition, it prevents metastasis from an original site in the skin, stomach, small intestine, liver or lung.
Green tea benefits oral health and reduces cavities in at least five ways. It kills the bacteria that cause cavities. Research from the past decade has identified a number of substances in green tea that can weaken the cavity-causing effects of bacteria, including Streptococcus mutans. It blocks the attachment of the bacteria associated with dental caries to the teeth. It inhibits the collagenase activity of the bacteria that live below the gum line. The polyphenols in green tea are anti-inflammatory, so they reduce gum disease (gingivitis). Finally, it increases the resistance of tooth enamel to acid induced erosion.
Now about peppermint tea...
Some believe peppermint tea has healing effects, as a result of the menthol that it contains. It may ease such problems as irritable bowel syndrome, nausea and vomiting. Its minty flavour can take the edge off bad breath, and it can also control mild asthma and even help to manage stress. It is a good remedy to ward off wintertime colds. Some brands of peppermint tea list these benefits on their labels.

However, peppermint tea has muscle relaxant properties and therefore may relax the lower esophageal sphincter, allowing the contents of the stomach to move upwards into the esophagus. For this reason, patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) are advised to avoid peppermint.

Hope it helps..

I don't have anything to add other than I agree with all of the above on the benefits of tea.
Take some time to learn about the multitude of varieties and the effects some of them can have. I like the greens and a peppermint /spearmint blend which is absolutely great for an upset stomach.
Chamomile will relax you before bed. There are others that help with cold/allergy symptoms.
