I only know for the United States, and its 75 percent for the Christian God. This is much higher if you add in the Jewish and Islamic God, who is all the same God.

Since 'God' is such a vague concept, there are probably quite a few people who believe in it.
There are definitely a large number of people who believe (or claim to believe) in the christian definition of God, and they are very good at pointing out how someone else they disagree with doesn't 'believe correctly' or whatever. There are also a large number of people who claim to believe - but are actually just making money or getting some other benefit from it.
Personally, I don't think 'God' is a being that cares whether you believe in it or not. It's more like the sum of everything that is.
People waste their entire lives worrying about things that they have absolutely no reason to believe in. They were either raised that way, or had some opportunist convince them that they have to jump through certain hoops (usually involving large cash donations) in order to 'be saved'.
If you believe in the bible, and really study it - you will see that a lot of the things that 'christians' believe aren't even in there. If you think you have found the truth - then more power to you, but you should always question it. If it is true, it will stand up to the questioning.

Poll after poll after poll suggests that approximately 90% of Americans believe in God. That said, the range of the extent to which people believe is very vast. That 90% covers right wing fundamental Christians, Muslims, religious moderates, alternative religions, and liberals that believe in "something," but don't know exactly what. One doesn't have to be a church-goer to believe in God.
It is definitely possible that some politicians say they believe in God just for the votes. Statistically, I guess you could say that 10% of them probably do! It definitely seems likely that someone may lie about it, especially if it is true that 90% of Americans believe in God. Our politicians are proven liars, why would it be any different regarding this, especially if election was at stake? That said, Barack Obama is not one of them. His religious record pretty much speaks for itself.

World population - around 80% I'd guess. Of the rest, I'd suppose most are either non spiritual atheists or agnostic, with a minority following atheistic religions/philosophies.
Edit: US population would be around 90-95% theistic, and by far the majority believe in the biblical god.

If you don't believe you will know shortly after the rapture, they will all disappear. If you do believe you will know by looking around in the sky.
I don't think anyone really knows here on earth. God knows and will remove all of those who believe shortly. I hope to see you then.
Don't forget that believing is not what gets you into heaven, the devil believes in God. Asking Jesus to be your savior and believing he died for you is what you need. Understanding that he died for you and loves you very much is what will answer your real questions.

i'd say 75% believe in some form of god or something to that effect. The rest are atheists and current trends dictate that this percentage is on the rise

"God" is an imprecise word to describe something beyond ourselves. It can be an entity if you wish, or nature, or physics, or whatever. Anyone with a shred of humility will acknowledge that in the grand scheme of things, they don't amount to much. . .other than trying to be a decent human being. Nuff said.
