Via 1879 I am not a spokesperson for atheism, that's the thing about atheists we speak for ourselves, about our own thoughts

I'm still waiting to read that question or answer.

The very nature of religious faith requires a surrendering of logic to a certain extent.

Not really, there are Christians that are very capable thinkers. It depends on the answer or question, if it is to prove that a God exists I never find their argument to be based on logic, I find a lot of Christians are very logical outside of their belief structure, the same can be said for any other religious person.

When it comes to debating the Bible stories I find that Christians are very logical in countering my arguments. This does not include when debating the Bible with the real world, but just within the context of it's own stories. But such debate when brought out into the real world quickly becomes rationalizations, assumptions, and often time illogical.

I was brought up as a christian, I have since decided that I do not believe in any 'god'. The problem with 'christians' and 'atheists', is that neither side will back down. Both sides can put forward a logical answer. But both should agree to disagree. You believe or you don't. I have read many atheist web sites recently, and I find them to be so...........religious. I do not count myself as atheist, as I believe in an afterlife, I just don't believe that there is one almighty creator, who will turn me away from the 'gates' of heaven, just because I didn't believe.

The biggest problem is that neither atheist nor Christian nor Muslim nor Buddhist nor any other religion can prove the existence of a god one way or the other.

Live in peace and harmony with one another, no matter what your beliefs, colour or creed are. You don't need a god to tell you that, but if there is a God, isn't that what he/she/it would want?

I'm waiting for a christian to be logical if you know where I can find logic in religion please I am hungry to be enlightened - the only thing that surprises me about chtristians is how bloody ignorant they are with general knowledge but ask the to quote chapter 6 verse 32 of some nomad earth flat believing guy by the name of Cactusbreath and they'll parrot it off like all good brain dead brainwashed sheep that they are. I'm not bitter I just hate ignorance.

No, does it surprise you?

Like most people seem to realise, Christians are all individuals too and can't simply all be assumed as idiots.

What you may notice is that fundimental Christians tend to give rather biased, non-sensical answers when it comes to subjects that have no idea about but thought that they'd contribute anyway - topics such as atheism, evolution, genetics, paganism, climate, etc.

It's not even that they're stupid or anything, it's just that they insist on giving answers based on what their peers say is correct.

There are numerous well-educated and logical Christians. The idea of faith is one that is somewhat non-logical. There is the basic need to believe that is present in all humans. Without a background of belief, we would be incapable of making the simplest decisions.

People who practice logical thinking, being human, have a need to believe in something. They defend that which they believe in a logical way.

Their premises, being based in metaphysics, maybe questionable, but their reasoning powers are sound.

"The infinite monkey theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type or create a particular chosen text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare."

If you were a reasonable Christian, would you come here to participate, knowing that most of the other Christians here are childish lunatics?

I think there are plenty of reasonable Christians out there, but the loud wacko Christians drive them into relative hiding.

I think God exists in the minds of people who believe in him, therefore they can make and have opinions that are logical although I may not aggree!

I have met MANY VERY intelligent Christians. My "beef" is not with Christianity, but rather with those Christians who call themselves "fundamentalist" and "Pentecostal" who try to legislate their faith into my life and whose faith spreads ignorance (like denial of evolution, the censoring of works of art like Ashcroft covering the breasts of sculptures in the Capitol building, etc.).
