She needs to respect her parents' wishes unless she wants to be out on the street. When she is 18 she can date whomever she wants. You don't give her age (or his), but the parents may have other concerns as well. And what do you mean by 'lover?' Since she is underage, what he is doing is statutory rape. She would be kinder to stay away from the guy - IF she truly cares about him and has his best interests at heart. After all, if it's true love (and not just hormones) it will stand the test of time, right?

It depends on how old your friend is.

If she's under age - she should obey her parents - because children should obey their parents.

If she's older but is dependent on her parents (say, a college student) - she should obey them - because they are paying their hard earned money and doing without things so she can get an education.

If she's over 21 (in the US) graduated from college, working, paying her own way, then that's up to her - not her parents.

Of course, rebelling against your family comes with a whole lot of consequences - but if she is independent, then it's entirely up to her.

Just think things through before you jump.

wow thats crazy is she an adult then she can date anyone she wants to but if she's under age then thats another problem but as long as the dude ain't beating her upside the head and treating her like a queen than her parents shouldn't have anything to say about it
what she should do is try to get her parents and he boyfriend together and have a nice long talk and here him out

Well its not okay to disobey your parents, it creates big problems at home. But thats a racist issue as well, and that shouldn't be okay..the girl needs to communicate with her 'rents and let them know she sees the person, not the skin color, and she wishes they would respect her decisions... When shes 18, she can do as she wishes.. the parents can approve or not

Is that the only reason?
there must be more to it....
I think she should listen to her parents, when she leaves home she can date who she wants. For now, she might want to talk to them to find out exactly why they think this guy isn't good for their daughter.

there has to be another reason... unless they are prejudiced...
if they are, it is not fair of them to put their opinions on her and expect her to feel the same as them... it is a parent's responsibility to raise a child, teach them morals and standards and protect them, not make them prejudiced against other races......
I would tell them, that their hang ups are not mine and I would continue to date him.....
if however, there is a legit reason other than he is of a different race, perhaps your friend should discuss this with her parents and see what they are so worried about....
