Direct sound output v2.47 (d) error.
Bad direct sound driver please install proper drivers or select another device in config error code 88780078
Thats what I get, all sound is gone, I have winap and media player 11 installed but silent, what drivers are needed ? thanks but keep it simple

Sounds like the driver for your sound card is not installed properly or is corrupt. I'd recommend going into your device manager (Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management, select Device Manager in the left frame) and see if you have any "yellowed" device entries. You can try right clicking on the device and selecting to update the driver using the Microsoft site or you could open a browser and go directly to your sound card vendors website (or the mother board website if using integrated sound). Updating your sound drivers should resolve the problem for you.
