I'm currently running Windows 2000 Professional on my computer at home. I have sadly forgotten the password. I was given the computer 8 mos ago and i stopped using it about 3 or so months ago. Is there anyway to bypass the log on screen to be able to change the password or disable it so that i dont ever have this problem again?

You can download (on a different machine) a bootable CD that will allow you to change the password. Once you change it to something you know you can boot into it and set it to something you do know. (You really don't want to run without and administrative password.)
Just search for password recovery software or go to downloads.com

There are several tools which can do this one of which is ERD Commander. Also can boot from the windows 2000 cd and reinstall on top of old installation which will reset and there are some other tools which will allow you to ahck into the machine. Do a search online for windows 2000 change administrator password. or if you are not logging in as administrator then do so and change your login password
