Dale Earnhardt used the number 2 during the 1979, 1980 and 1981 NASCAR seasons. Rod Osterlund Racing was the team that fielded the car. Midway through 81 Osterlund sold to J. D. Stacy, and Earnhardt also ran the 3 in 1981 for 11 races with Richard Childress as the owner. He raced the number 15 for Bud Moore in 1982 and 1983 before returning to RCR in 1984.

Did a bit of research (I though the k was a typo! Hey, I wasn't born until 1983!). The k2 was Dale's first car. It was a 1956 Ford Victoria owned by David Oliver. He raced it at the Old Concord Motor Speedway in 1970.

It was way back in his short track days I think... before he came to NASCAR.
If you search for Dale Earnhardt history.. you should be able to find it.

Are you referring to Dale Jr.'s #2 Busch series car? He drove the AC Delco #2 in the Busch series for his dad.

I remember him driving a pink k2 car, it was his first to drive. I can't remember who owned it. I think it was back in 1976. Not sure about that.
