I'm 20 and I'm waiting. I believe it does matter who you give your virginity to because it's something you can never get back. I know that when I get married I can tell my husband "I waited for you" and while at this time men don't want to wait, I think once they're in a relationship that they know has a potential for marriage, they appreciate that. It's also a great way to weed out the "bad seeds". Any guy that isn't willing to respect your wishes isn't worth your time.

Male, 17.
I think it does matter, I rushed into having sex with my last girlfriend and now wish I had waited as I am in a much more meaningful relationship.
There is never a too soon to have sex (except maybe your first date...) It happens when it happens, leave it until it feels right. Do NOT have sex because your friends are (stupid reason) Have sex because you love the person and want to feel close to them, it doesn't matter if you are 13 (it is illegal though) or 30 when you have sex for the first time, as long as it feels right.

I believe that you should give you virginity to the man/woman you intend to spend the rest of your life with.
I'm female and 22.
I certainly wish that my first time was with someone other than who it was, I was 14, and he was 16, it was terrible, and he didn't care about me, and afterwards he told me I'd better not tell his missus.
I wish I had have waited for someone who cared about me, someone who could have made it special.
And finally, in my opinion, how long you wait to have sex would depend on the person. I have never "waited" in my life. But if I could go back and do it over, it would probably be about 6 months.

Hi. I was 16 when I lost my virginity. I was with my 1st love (not together now) and we waited 2 & 1/2 month. However, I don't think people can tell you how long to wait, it's what feels right to you. I don't regret sleeping with him, we had a very long & meaningful relationship. I DO regret sleeping with two other partners after that seperation as they meant nothing to me. I'm now with my new bf of 5 months, we slept together after 2 weeks (don't judge me)! I don't regret this, as I felt so connected to him (& still do).
I do think that your first partner should be someone who means something to you ie not a 1 night stand!!

It mattered to me. (I'm 45 and female). I NEVER wished I had sex earlier. I DID wait for sex so no regrets there. My husband (of 23 years) and I waited until we were engaged and a date was set. (I was 22) I sort of wish we'd waited until the wedding. It meant (and still means) a LOT to my husband that I waited for him. He's always told our children how extremely special that was to him.
My oldest daughter (22) is getting married in August. She regrets having sex with her previous boyfriend (they dated 1 1/2 years before sex). She wishes she had waited for her fiance. He wishes she had too. It's caused a little friction between them.
My youngest daughter (age 17) plans on waiting. I hope she does.

Yes it matters.I am a female of 52.My first time was rape.It resulted in the birth of my daughter and years of abuse.First time sex should be with your spouse. It should not be used as just some itch to scratch. Many times I wonder what life had a for me .I have been married for almost 11 years to another man.

Im female.
Im 18.
I believe it does matter who yooh have yoor first sexual encounter with it should be special and with sum1 yooh love.
I wish mine was with sum1 else because i waited til i was 17 then i slept with a lad who i loved and who claimed to love me. He then told me he told me he loved me to get me into bed. I was horrified.
Nah im glad i waited otherwise i would have been like all the other girls i know.
I had sex after 3months and i believe that was too soon. It depends when in the relationship yooh feel ready to give up yoor V to sum1 yooh, love and trust and who makes yooh feel special and safe xx
