Who bestows the dubious honour of "top contributor" and why is it handed out anonymously and just as quickly taken away without comment, I don't understand it?

I've never been bestowed the dubious honour - I probably get to many violations or something. If it depends on getting lots of best answers - I'm not an @ss kisser or suck up to get best answer. You are right - the "honour" is dubious.

To become a Top Contributor, you must answer at least 50 questions in one particular Y!A category within 30 days and receive Best Answers on at least 10% of those answers. Also, your qualifications for being a Top Contributor are always being evaluated in the background, so keep up your efforts because even when you get the badge, it's possible to lose it if you no longer qualify.

Ah, the fickle nature of human praise. I too have lost my glowing yellow (or is it light orange?) tag of shame - I mean fame - that implies that I have no other life besides hanging out on the computer. This too will pass, my brother, and you will realize that the capricious & temporary grace of Yahoo! matters not to thee.
