In the beginning God created the heaven & the earth & the earth was void & without form, therefore we can go back millions of yrs. Many Christians overloo the verse in Gen. 1:28 God told Adam to Replinish the earth & in Gen. 9:1 God told Noah to Replinish the earth & Replinish means to fill it up again. This one word many Christians overlook, Plus we have to also see when & what time did God judge the angels.

a *Day* in creation was very likely thousands for years. Not just 24 hours.
2 Peter 3:8-9 (American Standard Version)
But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Psalms 90:4
For a thousand years are in your eyes but as yesterday when it is past, And as a watch during the night.
Genesis 2:4 (American Standard Version)
These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the *day* that Jehovah God made earth and heaven.
Obviously here at Genesis 2:4 that Day means something else other than a 24 hours period

They dont necessarily contradit each other,Who cares wether the sun the moon and the stars are held up with string or not.
Writing has only been around for about 7000 years, imagine if moses was told to write down our new modern version of events, the world would be a lot wronger than it is now.
The bible is pretty accurate if you are willing to give its accounts latitude, the christian and scientific versions can be made to concide.
God said "Let there be light"=the big bang
God made man from clay and breathed life into him=my guess is life started with yeast and sugers(why does beer ferment)
Adam and eve=its debatable when modern man started, some people maintain that modern man started in africa, could be but modern thinking man started about 30000 years ago in europe with the great leap forward.
this was when man first started to become more technically aware and styles and taste began to set in,different groups of people began to vary on how they did things(adam and eve with the apple, the tower of babel)
Noahs flood=extinction of the neandertals, ice age?
If you were God asking moses to write all this stuff down would tell him about the big bang(what caused the big bang?)quantum physics, yeast and suger or would you tell him the sun the moon and the stars are held up by string version.
No doubt God knew what the consequences on human development that each version of events would have and He chose the biblical version because it was better.

Even though I'm a Muslim but this concept is same in both religion,
There is difference in Creation and production.
Creation, the abrupt and timeless act, was done in first six days of this universe.
Production is the process and medium oriented method to reach to a certain time frame and get birth or come into being in this world.
During that time one remains in the shape of soul, before getting birth.
Creation wise we are all of same age, as got created at once.
Birth takes time and depends upon the birth of our parents to come first and give birth to us later.

The Bible says a lot of things. The Bible was made to show us we as human beings do not have the knowledge to figure it out.We need Jesus,It is all about Jesus.Do you worship the Bible or Jesus? no offense I am trying to give a little wisdom that God gave me.The devil gave Adam and Eve the curse of knowledge of what is right and wrong and many people hide behind the Bible because they don't want to go to Jesus John 5 v 39-40

The Bible never says man didn't show up for thousands/millions (WHICHEVER-BIG DIFFERENCE).
You have to decide for yourself is the Bible the Word of God? If yes then you MUST go by the Bible or you are against God.
If no then don't worry about it.

Thats very easy. You have 2 different stories there. The Bible does not say the earth is that old, only about 6200 years. You have some evolutionary nonsense mixed up with the Bible.
Another thing, all those old dates for man, dinosaurs, and rocks is only supposition that is based on the assumption that the geologic column and its time scale is correct. There is no stand alone evidence to support this, only circumstantial, and even that is assumed.

Well, the bible, which is a book of legends, written millennia ago, before the age of the earth and any facts about evolution were known; of course the bible's authors would get all that stuff wrong.

You are going to have to decide who you believe, The bible (which is what the 6th day is about) or science (which is where you have your millions of years later story). It is good at this point to also decide if you believe in God at all or in religion for that matter. I do.

i think it was the second person who answered however gods time is not the same as ours, this may represent that knowing god goes beyond our human understanding and to fully know him and his ways can only be achieved if we are saved in jesus.....the bible isn't the easiest book to understand, one must become familiar with the author, the religious truth intended, the culture amongst other things. when properly understood we find no contradictions only the glory of god.
