Yo! All that is required in India to be a pilot is a 12th pass with Maths and reasonably good english skills. So technically you are overqualified to be a pilot in India, if you are doing the B.E right now, you can enroll for PPL.
Some clarifications: The B.E branch is not important, a flight engineer does not become a pilot, you need not be an Aeronautical Engr to go for Avionics (Electronics would do just fine).
I am not sure how IAF recruits pilots, if thats what you want to know about. Even in that case, you are vell qualified.
Good luck

Yes you can. But if you are smart enough you can also star the piloting training while doing B.E. Because the employers in INDIA do require some kind of degree other than knowing how to fly the aircraft. I would advise you come to U.S for your pilot training because, NRIs have to first piority in getting a job for any airlines in INDIA, even if we do not have degree. As for me..I got 18 college credits (such as ENGLISH MATH HISTORY etc) and my flight school will give me 42 credits when I complete their course so That will give me total of 60 credits which is my two years degree in APLLIED SCIENCE. Here, it cost about $50,000 for the enitre flight training including CFI (Certified FLight Instructor). Here, flight school offer you a gurantee that they will give youa job when you graduate from their school..SO that is A+ to build up your flight hours. By the way I am coming back to india to work for either jet airways, air india or kings.

Before / during / after B.E.
What's B.E. ? Unless it is some medical condition, it would not interfere you becoming a pilot.

well you will have to do some more effort . you should go for aeronautical engineering and from there you can chose mordern aviaonics thus become a flight engineer and therfore become a pilot. its cheaper than professional pilot training and pays you more.

No. You are automatically disqualified. You can still be a stewardess if you look ok in a skirt.
