my husband gets them and as soon as he notices an outbreak he puts ice on them, works really fast!
But you should also get a medicated chap stick.
In general to avoid them, keep your lips moisturized (chap stick), use straws for drinks in restaurants and be aware of sun and heat (use sunblock).

The herpes simplex virus (HSV-1) develops cold sores (aka fever blisters). People could be exposed to HSV-1 from sharing drinks with others, used forks, shared chapstick, and smooching anybody who is carrying the herpes virus. Cold sores are considerably uncomfortable blisters that might turn up around the lips, or perhaps the interior of the mouth or nose, elsewhere on your face, and in other places on your body's skin.
They can surface because of increased stress and anxiety, colds, fever, low temperatures, particular foods, or an excessive amount of sun. The area can start to tingle, itch, or burn, then a new sore may appear. The blister can dry out and develop a yellow crust. Cold sores may last anywhere from seven days to 14 days. People can attempt to cover it up it by using cosmetics, although this ordinarily makes the cold sore a whole lot worse.
To do away with cold sores, a person can go about covering them with a cold sore special product, apply lip balm with SPF 15, dab witch hazel, take echinacea, vitamins C as well as vitamin E, and absolutely keeping away from touching the cold sore. By adopting a handful of lifestyle changes, it is actually doable to reduce them as well as keep cold sores from happening again.

Use Hydrogen Peroxide and mouth wash several times a day.. It takes the pain surprisingly fast. Last week I had one start and did this twice and it was gone.
If it is on your lip. (for some reason I only get them inside of my mouth) pat a little of the Hydrogen Peroxide on it. It will do the same thing.
It works great to brush with every day and keeps your gums very healthy.

Run do no longer walk to your wellness care expert and get a prescription for an antiviral medicine jointly with famvir, zovirax or valtrex. those are available in cream and pill form based on the form of virus you have. S/he will prescribe the main appropriate stuff for you and it will amaze you the way properly those meds artwork. keep some accessible, and on the 1st signs and indicators of the sore coming back, start up utilising the cream or taking the pills to short-circuit the onset. now and back i do no longer even get an entire-blown eruption. Its quite incredible.
