Do they believe that their children have souls, animals have souls, are they open to anything other than science? How do they deal with grief? What is comforting?

asking what an athiests believes is somewhat of a paradox. everyone who believes in a god and an afterlife is wrong. what is wrong with there being nothing there when you die?
why must there be this fairy tale of an existance?
you know most religions have an armageddon. you want death, and destruction, it means your savior will appear. and it is a self fulfilling prophecy. and for what? so you can be more religious than person sitting next to you in church.
thanks but no thanks, i will take may chances believing in absolutely nothing.

Unlike deity worship groups, particularly christians, I believe that all life has the same intrinsic 'worth', and all are made of biological and elementary materials that have the potential to become an energy source for other organisms after death, and in many cases during life..!!
Consider the bacteria in your gut. It is not human and contains no human DNA, but is an integral part of the symbiosis that is part of the natural world.
On so many levels the interweaving web of life is so clearly evident, and the concept of "special treatment" for just one species, and only then the ones that join a particular religious "club" is absurd within this backdrop of evidence and verifiable conclusions, understanding and humility that mainstream science offers.
Only a scientifically illiterate or ignorant fool would consider otherwise..!

Atheists may or may not believe in anything, except gods. That's it. If someone lacks a belief in gods, that person is an atheist.
Atheists may be deeply religious and spiritual and mystic, or they could be completely secular and skeptical. They might be Buddhists or Humanists or Unitarian or any other non-theistic religion.
Basically, there are as many forms of atheism as there are atheists. The only qualifying factor is a lack of belief in gods.

a lot of atheists are logical beings and as such accept the laws of physica/chemistry/mathematics/etc. Thus some believe that they are an energy form and further that energy can neither be created nor destroyed and consequently they like you and me will exist forever albeit in a changed form. Some even go as far as to believe that the energy once released from a deceased body will incorporate into the universal energy that surrounds us all.

The ONLY thing that all atheists have in common is their lack of belief in the existence of deities.
Some atheists ARE spiritual and DO believe in the existence of souls. Buddhists, for example, believe in reincarnation and are very spiritual people, but Buddhism is an atheistic religion in that it is not centered around the belief in and worship of a deity.

Atheists don't believe God exists. That should tell you all you need to know, but unfortunately theists often have God so intertwined in everything they believe in, it's hard to understand what the world would be like without Him.
Try these: No God; no afterlife; no souls.
Plenty of morality, though - don't be fooled.

When we grieve, we grieve - without a comforting fantasy of afterlife to fall back on. Reality is tough, but I prefer it to a made-up world.

Atheists believe in most things other people believe in, like love, marriage, happiness. Or whatever. Thoughts about souls, I think, varies, but Atheists don't believe in Heaven, Hell, angels, demons, Gods... any religious stuff. Atheism is simply belief that there is no God.

We're all different, since there's no magic book telling us what to believe. Atheists just lack belief in any gods.
However: I think almost all of us agree there's no such thing as an 'immortal soul'.
Remember what it was like for you a hundred years ago? It's like that after you die.

"at first perfection for existence is the information of God in case you do no longer locate it appropriate then your purely airplane old closed minded" quite that fact by myself makes you quite close minded. i recognize from journey that isn't possible to handle theist jointly with your self. i could desire to instruct you all the information interior the international that proves that evolution is real. and that i do no longer choose information to instruct you that God does not exists or to instruct you that God is something yet ethical and stable. a 10 year old can deduct that with straight forward good judgment. yet you will no longer settle for any of that. And why will you no longer settle for it? on account which you're close minded. i've got faith that faith is between the main threatening issues in our international at present. It brainwashes human beings to do issues they recognize is immoral. It slows our progression, limits our means and destroys our destiny. I haven't any concern with human beings believing in something. it quite is okay. yet do it on your man or woman domicile. do no longer take it to this point. faith has no area interior the politics of guys and in no way in technology. Edit: "i'm properly conscious of how confusing that's finished existence and that i do no longer could desire to instruct my self I lived by using it! i replaced into in conflict. yet that has no longer something to do what i'm speaking you anybody is idiots! Perfection for existence who cares in case you like it or no longer it befell and you from anybody can't give up that" That paragraph makes no grammatical experience what so ever. First you're saying which you do no longer could desire to instruct your self after which you call us idiots because of the fact we are knowledgeable? Wow....purely wow. haven't any reaction to that quite.
