Yes. I work for the government and I worked in the private sector. Uncle Sam gets their share either way.

The benefits are sometimes better, depending on the state.

Absolutely! And, in many cases, they'll check to make sure that your property taxes aren't overdue.

oh yeah, and they hit you with the guilt trip to give money to all sorts of charities too.
