I got my tattoo 10 days ago, 2 small stars on my foot, They had scabbed up and I was putting Savlon on them everyday. I was avoiding getting my foot wet etc. Yesterday, I was standing beside a lake, (we were camping) and my boyfriends dog knocked me into the water! I dired my tat as soon as i could have, but most of the scabs have flaked off!! I havn't picked it and it hasn't re-scabbed. But it looks grey and as if there is a white waxy looking cover over it. :s
Is this nornal healing??

yeah this is normal. it'll take about two weeks for the scabs to fall away. but there will still be a thin layer of something (i've noticed this with mine). u may also notice a shiny appearence aswell, this will fade maybe after a month. dont worry bout it, and after 10 days dont worry bout getting it wet either. different people have different rates of healing, so u'll be grand

There is really nothing you can do to make your tattoo heal 'faster'. Treat it as a flesh wound... thats really what it is! The ONLY time your tattoo should be covered is right after it is done- your tattoo artist will place some sort of bandage over it. That bandage can be taken off in 1-4 hours. After that, you do not bandage it again. Keep a thin layer of A and D ointment or Bacitracin on it for a few days... DO NOT use a grease based ointment like Vaseline!! NO Neosporin!! Just the A & D or Bacitracin. H2Ocean is also a wonderful after care lotion, made especially for your healing tattoo. But NO bandages!!!! Dont rush this healing process. You can mess up your tattoo and it wont look its best. Just be patient!

If its been 10 days i am sure its fine, My tattoo on my foot took about 3 weeks to fully heal and even then it still had some peeling going on....A few times during the healing process after coming out of the shower i noticed a grey color and honestly i think that is just the lotion that you have over it, it probably hasn't all soaked in yet and that is what you are seeing as the film over the area.....
Just give it some time, maybe even slack off on the lotion just a bit and it will be fine in a couple more days!!
Good Luck :)

I got a tattoo of a geecko on my foot 5 days ago and its still hurts. It is scabed over but the healing process is taking forever. Yesterday I went back to the tattoo parlor and asked the artist about it. He told me that the healing process on the foot takes between 2 to 6 weeks. He also told me that he purposely did brighter colors then I had wanted because he knew that they would fade.He said that my fooot was fine and there is nothing to worry about. You should give it anohter week and your tatto should be fine. Also when it does heal, if you don't like the color you should go back to the tattoo artist. They should be willing to fix it. Most artist's have a life time guarentee without telling you. No tattoo artist wants a bad reputation.

Maybe you should contact the tattoo shop were you got it done, and ask them about it, they prob would know what to do, and if it is healing normally.

Go back to the tat shop you got it at. Let them look at it and see what they say.
