I am totally stuck with weak and strong verbs in german language. I know that weak verbs do not change the stem vowel in the past tense an past participle and they are considered like regular verbs in English

Strong verbs do change the stem vowel in both the past tense and the past aparticiple

my question is how do you know which verb is weak and which one is strong

Thanks a million!

Sorry to make the thing even more complicated, but there are "mixed" ones as well!

The only way is to learn the following forms with each verb:

2nd person singular, simple past, past participle.
German children have to do exactly the same.
We all were chanting "singen, du singst, sang, gesungen"!

It is also very useful to learn the "construction" of the verb, like
"jemandem etwas geben" = to give something to somebody,
"jemanden sehen" = to see somebody
"jemadem helfen" = to help (give aid to) somebody.

I think there is no general rule to identify them.

Most verbs are regular / weak verbs. About 200 to 300 are strong verbs with irregular past and past participle. Among them are many of those verbs that are used most often.
