We got married in Maui, Hawaii - It was BEAUTIFUL!!!! And in a heartbeat I would do it again. I wore a white dress. The beauty of that is - it's your day. So you can wear whatever you want and your wedding can be as formal or informal as you want it to be. I wore a halter neck dress floor length with a slit on the side, low back. DH wore tan linen pants and a white linen button up shirt. We had our ceremony on the beach and were the only ones at that beach with the exception of the man who married us and our photographer. We did a lei exchange (since we were in Hawaii) and the whole thing was very intimate and romantic. I would definatley do it over again exactly the way we did.
Also if you have your wedding in the morning you don't have to worry about the heat. But your officiant will be able to give you tons of sugguestions just ask them.
Good luck - destination weddings are the BEST!

You have so many to choose from!
Its really up to you, your budget and how many people you want at your wedding.
Getting married on a remote tropical island is definitely an amazing memory, and needn't cost the earth (in fact, destination weddings tend to cost less than traditional ones, believe it or not!) You can always wear white, I don't think that should be an issue for you (My wife wore a stunning, full length white gown at our wedding in the Bahamas! - She'll kill me if she sees this, but I can't for the life of me remember who it was designed by!)
If you want to start checking out some possible locations in the Caribbean (there are many, and they are *all* beautiful) then http://www.islandbrides.com/ is a good place to start. The site covers about 30 countries in the area and has forums to chat to other brides in your position. The site, unlike most others, isn't run a by a wedding company, so isn't trying to sell you anything - this is pretty rare and keeps it unbiased.
Popular destinations are
the Bahamas - close to the US mainland, easy to get to, lots of unique locations for your wedding, and plenty of professional companies to help:

Jamaica - A little further away, but still a popular choice, though there are reports of some areas of the country being a little 'rough':

Puerto Rico - this one is an easy option if you're from the US, as there are no visa problems - has some wonderful locations, beaches and resorts:

At the end of the day - check a few out, talk to other brides in your position, and go for it - you certainly won't regret it!
Good Luck!

I prefer Magens Bay on St. Thomas. Cane Garden Bay on Tortola is a close second though. There is also Honeymoon Bay on St. John but Magens and Cane Garden are more beautiful. You will not be disappointed I promise you that.
Here is a link to the Virgin islands to give you an idea of some weddings there http://www.usvi.net/usvi/wedding/index.php
Here is a link that will help you understand what will be needed for a wedding there http://www.here.vi/Wedding/wedding.html
Congrats and good luck on your wedding (and please do skip the bagpipes as they don't go with the beach theme well).

I'm from Hawaii, and that is not true all brides wear white in Hawaii we have the same traditional wedding. Maui, is a romantic island not as commercialized as Oahu. Call the hotels ahead of time, they do host weddings.

I would suggest Hawaii and skip the bagpipes.
There are many companies set up in Hawaii for taking care of all the details with getting married there.
The easiest is Oahu and there's lots to do there afterwards.
If you want more rural then there are Maui and Kauai.
White dresses are worn in Hawaii, just like the rest of the USA.

umm i would go to hawaii or new caledonia or fiji. fiji is the beautifullest. but sometimes the beach can be windy and sand blows everywhere. and it can sommetimes be too hot as there is no shade.
