More and more Fans from the West Coast are joining the NASCAR Nation and since Jeff Gordon was born in California and has four Championships they pick him.
Also, more and more Fans are growing increasingly sick of the gay bashing, homophobic, racist, sexist slurs that are coming off the tongues of Fans of a certain Driver and because of that they want nothing to do with that Driver.
The fact is as a more diverse group of Fans join the NASCAR Nation; the more this "Good-old Boy, Rebel, KKK," garbage is detracting from their Driver getting new Fans.
Jeff Gordon is affiliated with diversity, tolerance, and understanding and sadly the Other Driver's Fans have made him the symbol of racism, intolerence, ignorance, and sexism. I know the Other Driver doesn't want that; but it seems his loadest Fans do.
NASCAR is bigger then the Deep South now; and Jeff Gordon represents that. That is why Gordon's popularity is on the rise; that and also he is winning like crazy now.

I've been a Gordon fan since day one.I don't think its a case of more people liking him,but rather a case of people realizing this young brash race car driver can win on any given Sunday..and barring bad luck there aint a damn thing anyone can do about it.As he climbs in the record book more and more people will notice, and he will get the respect he has earned.The facts are simple Love him or hate him Jeff Gordon is the best driver in Nascar today.

I love questions like this. Guaranteed you'll get all kinds of negative responses from the Earnhardt fans. Nobody likes Gordon except for his fans. He's a great driver, pretty much the best in Nascar next to his teamate, Johnson. His only problem is he's like the Yankees of Nascar, you gotta hate the guy if you're not a fan. Not sure if you've been at a Nascar race, but its swarmed with Junior fans, its just unreal. I'm a Gordon fan, I respect Junior but not his fans. The answer to your question is that it's you. GO #24

Mr. Dale Earnhardt told Jeff Gordon not to worry about people booing him but to instead worry when fan's don't react to him at all. Makes sense.
I instantly liked Jeff a little more when his left rear tire went down in the All-Star race. That may not make sense to some people. Hell, it doesn't really make since to me either.

I am a Jr fan and I happen to like Jeff Gordon. I didn't used to but he does seem to have become less cocky and arrogant. It could also be that there are more drivers I dislike than him, so he moved up on my ranking list of drivers.

I am a 24 fan what makes this all a bit funny is that SR and Jeff were Friends and Business partners. They made alot of money together. Why SR and JR fans hate him so much is a
bit funny but it is what it is. By the way did any of you see the
Wind tunnel show they did comparing Jeff and SR.

I don't know that more people like Jeff Gordon, but more are sure making noise when he is announced at the track. Which doesn't bother him either way. He's just glad the crowd is making noise. Personally, I love him and think he's going to go down in history as one of the greatest Nascar driver's ever. GO JEFF GORDON !!!!

I've never been a Gordon fan, but I'm trying to hate him less. Something about every time he wins, it just doesn't feel right. No other driver makes me feel like that. I don't know why. My personal feelings aside, he is mostly a clean driver and seems like a decent human being, but I can't be a fan.

People only like him right now cause he is winning. I dont like him no matter what he does. At the all star race almost everyone except for dale jr got booed.

I think you are definitley correct, but I think it is because of all the "new" or "fair weather" or "bubble gum" (whatever you want to call them) fans who don't really know much about the sport except what they hear people talk about. Gordon and the chevy's are dominant this year, and he's gettin alot of attention.
