I'm no Dr, but I am a woman. there are other things that affect the fullness of an erection....the prostate may be the issue, a urologist can do testing on that. There are many aids for erection now too. and other reasons for erectile dysfunction.
But as a partner of a diabetic man, I loved him even more because the affection was what became more important as I myself age. Sometimes women can't handle the largeness because of a dryer vagina, or other health issues.
You are more than a body part and believe me, a good heart is worth more to me and some of my women friends than a roll in the hay. Try to love yourself and all your aging issues. Yes it is normal for things to gradually wear out.
I know sexuality is very important and there can be alot of grief involved when you lose the strength of youth. But aging is aging....you can age gracefully or go out kicking and screaming (so to speak).
sincerely....

Yes this is normal. Appearance can actually be deceiving... as children many males appear larger only because they have smaller bodies but as their bodies grown and mature they may appear to "be smaller". In reality you merely grew into everything. The only way you migh be able to regain your size would be through surgury... but its proven that its actually gurth not the overall size that is important. So don't let it hurt your confidence. Enlarged prostates usually do not effect size but if it does i would consult your doctor if you have not already.

Was that a gelding or a stallion?

No, size tends not to be reversible. But it could be an illusion. If you are overweight, then you could be getting layers of fat building up in your groin area, so that it just positioned deeper in your body, some morbidly obese men may lose sight of their penises completely. Losing weight may help.
Just a thought.

Ah youth. Everything was more energized then. The rest of your body just took a bit longer to catch up to your privates now that you are older. Don't despair. If you are above average and well versed in technique, that is all that is required to be a great lover.
