Alright, if you haven't been following, a man in Texas "accidentally" cooked his baby in the microwave. It suffered third-degree burns, but survived. It's with Child Protective Services now.

The mother, who wasn't home at the time, has come out to make a ridiculously stupid statement:

Satan compelled her husband to microwave their daughter because the devil disapproved of his efforts to become a preacher.

It's right here: http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/05/20/baby.in.microwave.ap/index.html

Now: Your thoughts?

People are stupid and need to take blame for their own idiotic actions, not try and blame the devil or make up excuses. It's the person inside yourself that is in control of what you do, when you do something bad it doesn't make it anyone elses fault, only your own.

I am having a hard time coming up with an appropriate response. The parents obviously both need to be locked up under psychiatric care and never left unobserved, ever. This is an unspeakably cruel act and if he had done this to a pet cat or dog he would have people calling for the death penalty.
My very deep sympathy for that poor little girl. To not only be injured for life in such a way but the fact that it was done by her own parents.
I feel a bit sick now.

If Satan told him to microwave his baby then Satan should have known 20 secs isn't enough time. Considering microwaves are load sensitive and a burrito takes 45 secs one would have to microwave a baby for at least 10 minutes. Actually when the microwave was introduced people didn't understand the technology. Several older people microwaved their cats to dry them off after a bath. It didn't work like they thought it would.

I know it's easier said than done, but if you could just focus on your life after the divorce. You should just look forward to the day you no longer have to worry about what he is doing and embrace the fact that you are moving on to the next exciting chapter of your own life. Let him be her problem from now on. He is a cheater, doubtful that he is going to treat her any better. Treat yourself well and don't let him take up space in your life anymore. Good luck.

The man is insane and possibly a sociopath. No one "accidentally" cooks a baby. And even those who believe that satan exists will tell you that he doesn't *make* anyone do anything.

It's a BS defense of a horrible, awful, terrible thing.

Simply this: A temporary insanity plea? No good judge would buy it. Thus, he (I wish I could say 'they') will be locked up in a criminal psychiatric unit for a very long time.

And I bet it's worse than jail there.

Good.

The man obviously had problems.
That is why Jesus would approve of free psychological screenings and therapy for all.

Clearly a case of temporary insanity.

It wasn't the devil it was that man's own sinful deranged mind.
