I drive a 2004 Toyota Corolla S and I wanted to have my car sound loud and achieve the sounds as you hear in "Fast and the Furious" kind of like the loud buzz sound, but I don't want anything that sounds sharp and puny. figured that I would have to buy a new muffler, but a friend from work told me that an exhaust tip is all i needed if I wanted that loud sound. So tell me, what would I need?
Also, the stock muffler on my car is partially covered and hidden behind the rear bumper, and it points towards the ground (If you own or ever seen a Toyota corolla S you would know what I mean). So how would that work out during installation? IF all I will be doing is adding an exhaust tip, would I need a new muffler so it goes straight out? That would mean I would have to get the rear bumper cut for the exhaust to get through correct? Roughly what is the cost of that? It would also help if you could point me out to some products.

Thank You for your help!!!

just a muffler will sound like crap. get a cold air intake. go to an exhaust shop ask how much for a header and full exhaust. tell em u want 2". the exhaust should be around $500 for a basic setup.

The cars in fast and the furious are turbos so that will give it a different tune. They also run programable onboard computers to map there ecu's so they can change them when ever,Top of the line ignition systems, cams, pistons, custom intakes,Bigger injecters and pumps, stainless exhausts the list goes on.If you want it to sound good, get a stainless system put on it and a good set of extracters with a cold air intake or pod filter running to the front bumper. This will give it a lower note. Will cost a fair bit though.

It's a corolla dude don't waste your time and money! This car is mean't for basic transportation nothing more. Putting on a tip or muffler isn't going to do a darn thing.

well, short of replacing the engine you can purchase a flow master exhaust system, mine ran about $200. there's also the option of custom exhaust, you could try to shorten the exhaust that way as well, and if you do it yourself and aren't environmentally friendly say "ta hell with the muffler!" so it's exhaust spilling directly from your engine into the world. all in all it should cost you no more than $600 and if you do it yourself(which means fabrication and basic knowledge of how a pipe works) no more than $100. my final suggestion for achieving that sexy rumble: buy an american car you can put a short(small) block engine in, you'll have no trouble with the rumble.

if you want a f and f sound you need a turbo and maybe a new air induction system and maybe nitrous and a really cool glass pack and then maybe after all that you could put a decent muffler exhaust tip on

flowmaster 50 or 60 series muffler should so the trick, also i would put on a cold air intake as that will push more air through your engine and give it a beefier sound, and if you want more noise, replace the headers.
