I'm 5'4 and weigh 135 Ibs before having the twins I weighed 110. After having the twins it just seems that I can't get the weight off, I'm flaby. I have 4 kids and go to school full time. I always seem to feel hungry when I try not to eat or cut back. I need to do something because I just feel so tired all the time and just horrible. I'm ready to commit. Please help. Should I fast for 14 days to cleanse my body while walking 30 minutes a day?

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

You are not alone. I have had a lot of success with weight watchers WW in the past. However, I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and cannot maintain the fiber requirements for WW anymore. A second drawback to WW is the weekly or monthly payment and that you are CONSTANTLY thinking of food. I spoke to my physician a few weeks ago. She told me that the good news is is that I am successful at loosing weight. This does not indicate a metaboloic issue. I bought a cheap eliptical tread mill and although I have not lost weight, I have lost inches and the cellulite is much less noticable. My physician told me that there is a new medication in development for a metabolism booster that does not contain stimulants. It will (if approved) work with the body's own metabolism "sensors" and increase metabolism in order to help a person loose weight safely. She did say that the older we get or hormonal changes can affect metabolism and even slow it down to a snails pace. You have a lot to be proud of with the 4 kids and twins at that! Try not to be so consumed with weight loss. It almost did me in emotionally. Each day is an opportunity to try something new. Instead of fasting ( which I have been told does not help reboot metabolism) try counting calories. This by far is the easiest for me and has been going well. I have only lost two pounds in two weeks but the gentle weight loss may be the trick.

An incredible site that gives equally as much support and info as WW is http://sparkpeople.com/ I love it. It was reccomended by my phiscian and if you like forums this is even better. Check it out, it will help you identify weightloss goals, give you suggestions and even make reccomendations for food intake, calorie content, food choices and recipies. It even provides amazing motivation. The other members contribute to your support and help answer questions. Best of all, IT IS FREE!

Hang in there. Stess doesn't help the metabolism either. That would figure huh?

The hardest thing, especially with children, is to try to stay on a schedule. Don't eat late (after 7:00 for me), more home cooked meals, I know easier said than done with kids, always on the go. Use a crock pot to cook many meals, remember plug it in the morning and dinner is ready after your busy day.
Drink water, exercise (don't have to go to the gym) just try some Yoga, walking/running, or sports you might enjoy tennis/racquetball etc. things you can do while spending time with your children. Watch many of your foods, especially snacks, try to get No Sugar Added Ice Cream,(Blue Bunny makes the best products) or low calorie cookies, they have made many strides to make these products taste much better and you can barely tell any difference.
I wish you the best at your goal, but please do not cleanse your body for 14 days this is unhealthy and your body will force you to replace what is missing and you'll gain weight. This is a slow process if you really want to keep it off give yourself a year. 10lbs for six months.

Do not fast!!
When you fast, your body goes into starvation mode, where it assumes you won't get food for a very long time, and begins to store many of your calories as fat. As soon as you resume your normal eating patterns, it takes a while for the body to realize that food is available and will be provided on a daily basis, and it continues to store the fat, regaining any pounds you lose.
(To read more about this, check out http://www.fitwise.com/Fasting_Program.asp)
First, find out how many calories you need on a daily basis. Here's a good place to do this:
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PED/content/PED_6_1x_Calorie_Calculator.asp
If you're going to cut calories, you need to do so for the rest of your life, not until you lose the weight, because your body will just regain everything. The key is to change your habits permenantly, not temporarily, by eating unhealthy food sparingly and choosing a variety of healthy alternatives.
Good luck with the weight loss!

NO!
Fasting while working out will take you to new energy lows, and you'll quit after only a few days.

The best thing to do is look at your diet and eating habits. Generally, foods such as vegetables and fruits will provide you with excellent nutrition, and will also raise your energy levels, which you will need for walking.

Cardio work such as walking will burn off fat, but you need to set realistic goals. The optimum goal is to reach a level of cardio workout that you can sustain for up to 30 minutes, because at that level, your body will continue to burn calories even after you stop working out.

It sounds like stress is making you resort to food for comfort. The main thing in any workout regimen is to know your mind. You need to make your mind an ally in your commitment.

Believe it or not, meditation is a great asset to working out. You can watch your mind at work, and understand how to control your impulses, but also how to focus your will on your objective.

Good luck, and I encourage you to get a mental image of the body you want, perhaps by looking at old photos of yourself.

You can do it!
