I am 5'4 ft, weigh 130 pounds, 16 years old. Well I am trying to eat healthy everyday and the right calories. Yesterday I woke at 9 am and ate at 10 30 am some oatmeal with 2 glasses of green tea, then 3 hrs later I ate a banana, whole grain bread, and drank a cup of skim milk, dinner time I just ate a hand full of grapes and drank 2 glasses of tea again.. I know I should probably have eaten more???? I was hungry at night again but didn't do anything. How can I feel full and not go to starvation mode at night?? Drink lots of water?? Today I am going to try differently... I ate 6 am whole grain bread with banana and a cup of skim milk and green tea so far... 9 am I will eat oatmeal again and green tea... 12 pm probably an apple, some egg white and drink water, 3 pm tomato for snack and more water... 6 pm salmon and salad with green tea. Is it true you should eat more in the morning and less nearing night time? That's why I only ate grapes for dinner.

Eat more and more often. But do not over eat in one sitting. You remind me of my g/f. She have a bad habit of not eating normal. When we go out she eats very little. It really seems like your not eating a lot. Unless that is your new diet and if its not it sounds like you might be buluctious. Dunno if i am spelling this right or well endowed. Not a bad thing my g/f is like 120 and 5'2. She would not recommend eating after 6 because it will get you fat. Truthfully you shouldnt eat a few hours before bed but (don't starve yourself, eat one or two baby carrots) because your metabolism slows down when you sleep. Here is my suggestion. Eat small meals and try to do some cardio work out (run, jog , walk, etc). The best is few times a week with some rest days inbetween as work out day 1 and let 2 be your rest day if its vigirous as doing crunches. Otherwise joging casually is safe everyday with stretching. Do not starve yourself. You are only 16. Until 25 you will keep growing. You are in your prime. Eat carbs during the morning hours, fresh fruit, dairy. During lunch have lean meats, fruit , dairy, carbs. At night if you can limit your carbs consumption. In between hours have a granola bar to have energy. When you eat more your body will adjust and will go to the bathroom more. Truthfully the diet you are on, seems like a quick fix. Green Tea with oatmeal? Two things that make you go to the bathroom. This is what i would call yo-yo diet if you don't stick with it. Since your 16, you should be attending school and at school there are probably a lot of greasy food. There's nothing wrong with it. My suggestion is eat what you want unless you are really dying to lose weight. Eat what you want as in eat till your 70% full . My mom taught me that.
So to rebutt cardio, eat every 3 hours small meals, eat lean meats, vegetables , and limit the carbs or eat what you want but less of it 70%. Half of your usual ice cream consumption. It's not so hard. Heres the trick. Since you are eating more you will less likely to overeat. Good luck and diet safely. I really do not see you getting a lot of energy on your current diet. Eat less more often.

Your choices are pretty good. It IS true that your last meal should be the smallest.

Maybe try having breakfast within the first half hour of waking, not an hour and a half. Even if it's something small, like a 1/2 cup of low calorie, low fat yogurt and some berries. It's got protein, and that'll kick your metabolism into high gear. Easier said than done though, if you normally exercise in the morning first thing.

Another warning: Your body, if not given enough calories, will start to convert muscle, not fat, into energy. The reason it does this is because muscle is mainly protein and it's more efficient that converting the fat. Your body will think it's starving. This is detrimental to your plan, since muscle BURNS fat. And this is why eating disorders are serious. So while your choices are good, try to manage the portions in a healthy way, too. Stick to the minimum and never go less than that.

Forget dieting I eat like a horse and I only weigh nine stone. This is what works for me: Eat regularly, if possible every three hours, when your body realises that it's getting a regular supply of food it increases it's metabolism, burning calories quicker and is much less likely to store calories as fat. When eating try to eat a lot of high protein foods and don't go too hard on the carbs. Try go easy on trans and saturated fats although you are allowed the odd treat. Drink lots of water! At least one gallon per day. Tea, coffee and fizzy drinks are O.K but they don' count towards your overall water intake. As for exercise I do some light weight training four days a week and cardiovascular (I use a rowing machine) two days a week with one days rest. There is a common belief that doing cardiovascular exercise on an empty stomach helps burn calories. This is absolute rubbish do not do it. Weight training is a good idea as muscle tissue burns a lot of energy, even while you sleep. You don't have to become Mr/Mrs universe but any fat tissue which you can convert to muscle tissue will not only make you look better but increase your metabolism. Getting plenty of sleep is also important when trying to build muscle. Good Luck

It's ok to be a little hungry before you go to bed, but you're definietly not eating enough. I'd say eat a little oatmeal and fruit or milk in the mornings, and have your biggest meal around lunch time. Thats what they say is best for your body. Then eat a light dinner later and it's alright to have a small healthy snack like cereal in the evening. Just try to eat small portions throughout the day, you should never starve yourself.

well, you got the eating "small proportions" down, but you are lacking a lot of foods, you know you're losing weight that way? People metabloisms are different, I eat more at night than any other time of day, my sister eats more lunch, but skips breakfast, and my friend she eats a lot at home.

Eat more whole grains, you need at least 48 grams of fiber in your body. Peanut butter, whole grains, dried fruits, beans, nuts, popcorn, pork or beef makes you feel fuller. Green tea on the other hand, I am a fan of drinking green tea with milk, but I only do that when I study a lot and eat lots of vegetables and tofu. Drinking lots a water is fine, but don't over do it, your bladders would explode maximum is 8 cups per day.
-Small meals consists of 5-6 meals a day.
-Breakfast you may start out with peanutbutter and whole grains sandwich, whole grain cereal with milk and orange juice, chicken noodle soup dipped with toasted whole wheat bread and scrambled eggs.

Notice I am only concetrating only on the important ones.

Assuming you are done growing...
1] 2 servings lean protein
2] 2 servings low fat dairy
3] 3 servings whole grains
4] 3 servings veggies
5] 2 servings fruit
6] avoid fried, fast, or junk food - even diet junk food
7] take a multivitamin with minerals every day
8] drink 1/2 gallon of water a day
9] do some strength training 3 x a week, and some aerobic training 3 x a week - so you don't lose muscle mass
