I went on a date with a woman who told me she was from Yugoslavia. Needless to say, we had a really good time. When I got home, I went online to educate myself on her native country and I discover that it doesn't even exist anymore! Why would she lie to me like this? Is everyone from Yugoslavia this two-faced and deceiving?

She may have meant she came from former Yugloslavia. She's not lying, but rather her people still regard that area as Yugoslavia rather than accept what the rest of the world now refers to it as.

On a recent trip to Ho Chi Min City, I was suprised to learn that no one there actually calls it that, it's still Saigon to the South Vietnamese people (and possibly the north too but i didnt go that far north).

Ask her what she meant. Chances are theres a cultural misunderstanding.
