find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Cut out all the garbage (cakes, ice cream, cookies, potato chips, fries, cheetos.etc.) Only eat when you're hungry , not just bored. Drink lotsa water. Try to go to bed a little bit hungry; you'll feel great in the morning. And , of course, the more exercise the better. Walking briskly and swimming are great. Or a treadmill or stationary bike for up to 30 minutes is great too. (Work up to 30 minutes gradually, and cool down with stretches.) You should be able to lose 20 lbs. in 10 weeks ,as long as you don't cheat! You're gonna be hungry, so be prepared, and Good luck to you!! :)

You didn't say your height and weight, but for an average sized person to lose 2 pounds a week, they should eat about 500-700 less calories a day than what it normally takes to maintain your current weight.
Part of that can be done just by giving up sweets, like soda's or other high sugar drinks. Add extra water each day.
Most of all, drink extra water. My favorite thing for helping me eat less is to drink 8-12 oz of water 20 minutes before I eat.
I could go on forever, but I'll stop at that.

i know ppl have allready said this but. drink water. less food. well less snacks. excersice. and be social. if you have "young" kids then play with them and bond more. i say young. becuase. as a teen. we do not wat to be seen with our parents (laugh out loud) and for dinner. drink some water about 10- 20 minutes before you eat. and for dinner. maybe some salad, italian food, and some dressing is ok. but ranch isnt realy, unless you get low fat ranch. and milk. get like 1% (1% milk isnt bad. get use to the taste. i had to. and it taste like normal milk to me. now i think regulare milk is too thick) and i have faith in you, truust me. if you do this. you will be fine. dont picture this as a diet or a long hard journey to lose 20 pounds... think of it as a healthy choice =) good luck to you. and soon you will look like a great healthy person. oh ya. 1 more thing. i cant stress enough t get about 10,000 steps a day. its very very healthy to walk. call a friend and go on a walk..

cut out all fried foods, cut back on sugar, soda, eat lots of veggies,steamed or raw, fresh fruits, get your protein, cut back on carbs(pasta, breads), 3-- 8oz glasses of milk daily, lots of water, no alcohol, have more protein, and exercise like crazy---run, walk fast, vacuuming burns calories,pilates,instead of taking the elevator, take the stairs. Shopping? park your car at the end of the lot and walk to the shops.(every little bit helps) drink water, eat more protein--lean meats. No pills, no fad diet shakes, no laxatives, you'll lose weight, but it won't stay off. It's all about portion control and excercise. go online to www.weightwatchers.com for hints on portion control, recipes, etc. Excercise! Good Luck, and have a tall cold drink(water) on me!!
