I would suspect fleas instead of lice, and yes, fleas are not particular about which blood type they suck.

It is a possibility to get lice this way. I would use a couple drops of tea tree oil in your shampoo... for some reason, lice don't like this stuff. Just be very careful to not get the tea tree oil in your eyes... so scrub your hands very well with soap and fresh water to get rid of any of the residue from your hands before you touch your face. This product can be found at a health food store... and with it being all natural, side effects shouldn't be a concern... and it will work for the animals too.

Yes, if your friends pet actually had lice and not flea's you could have lice. You can get checked out at a Dr.'s office and he or she can prescribe you a head to toe cream. You will also have to wash and dry (in a dryer) all exposed clothing, linens, and furniture etc...
You do not want to use anything designed for your pets. You need specifically designed medication for humans that you can find at your local drug store.

I don't think so. My daughter used to have a long-running lice problem and I looked that up once because she thought she got lice from a friend's cat, but it turned up that a cat can't carry lice like a human. If you have it, you got it from your friend.

Yes.. it sure can. If you're feeling constantly itchy on your scalp and see little white things attached to your hair strands (the eggs of lice), then it's probably 'cause you have lice. Go to your local drug store and get some Nix lice shampoo, bedding spray, and a comb for your hair. Follow the directions on the box and bottle of Nix. Good luck!!!! It's yuckie but you can get rid of it!

Do cat's get lice? I thought they only get fleas. If you think you have loce then get some Nix or something for lice and treat it before they start laying eggs.

Um, you should keep an eye out for the little gross things, because they are definiltey transferable. Also, suggest that your friend combs through his apartment. Wash your hair with some tetree shampoo for a few days, which will kill any kind of lice. you can also get a tetree bar of soap, if you perfer.
Good luck!

You won't get lice, but you can get a lot of bad bites. tell your friend to get her cat a flea color or those pills that are supposed to kill of lice. It's not very nice for guests to get bitten, lice bites hurt a hell of a lot

When my goats got lice I asked my vet if my horses and dogs would get them or if I would and he said that lice are species specific. They don't go from one species to another.

Tee-hee-hee. I remember my little brother playing with a wild baby bunny, and he got lice from it. He shaved his head. He was only about 7 at the time. Anyway, over the counter medication you can find at the drug store will take care of it.
