There's stuff you can put in their water, I forget what it's called. You can get it at Petsmart.

I think of a bad tooth. Maybe to dog needs a dental. This would help with the bad breath. Bad teeth cause bacteria to build up in the mouth which causes bad odor. It could even be bad gums.
Also another thing that comes to mind is Kidney problems. Some times the larger dogs will develope kidney issues and you can actually smell it coming from there breath. I know sounds stupid and crazy but call and ask you vet about it.
Good luck

Halitosis, or bad breath, can be caused by many reasons. It can be as simple as something he just ate to more serious liver or kidney problems. My last dog (bless him) had horrible breath - he was also suffering from renal failure.
A good vet check will ensure that your dog has no dental problems (which can also cause bad breath) and that his liver enzyme count is normal. If he is healthy, then you may look at his food. Does he eat crunchy dry food? If not, start. Start slowly to help his stomach (as dogs tend to have sensitive stomachs when switching foods) by adding a bit of dry food with his canned food. If he already has dry food, check the brand. You may want to upgrade in brands (ask your vet). Again, slowly switch foods.
You may also want to add in chew toys and rawhides (ask your vet or trainer for the size appropriate for your dog). Dry food and chew items (toys or rawhides) will help scrape away plaque, which causes bad breath.
Also, if you can, brush his teeth. This isn't easy, but is worthwhile if you can do it. If not, at least take your dog to the vet for a thorough teeth cleaning. This will remove plaque build-up and ensure he has healthy teeth and gums.
Lastly, there are a few dog breath-freshener treats out there. These are fine for short-term temporary use. But I really recommend getting to the root of the problem. Using a breath freshener is like using an air spray over a pile of manure. It may help momentarily, but the smell will return. :-)
Good luck!

Do you feed your dog wet food? If so, that will ruin his teeth over time. Dry food is better at cleaning teeth. If your dog is older, dirty teeth will be expected. You can ask your vet about Science Diet t/d, a dry food that cleans the teeth and is great against tartar. You can also see about scheduling a dental at your local animal clinic. There are also a number of products out there at your pet store if a dental is out of your budget range. A toothbrush with some dog toothpast twice a week helps immensely too, but it is hard to brush a dog's teeth.

My dog's breath stunk and she had an upset stomach alot. The vet told me she needed her teeth cleaned. I took my time doing this which I now regret because not only did her breath completely clear up.........she no longer lays around with the upset stomach, sometimes vomit. My ignorance cost her too many bad days. I will never take my time on doing this in the future.

He needs his teeth cleaned. Its a part of doggie maintenance. Once that tartar builds up ya just gotta get him to the vet. THEN start brushing his teeth and using the dental stuff to keep the tarter under control.

ya they sell bones and treats that help dogs breath . or try another dog food because the breath comes from the stomach digesting so try giving him a different diet.

you can brush his teeth. my cousin does that for her dogs. she buys special toothpaste online that isnt harmful to dogs(do not use regular toothpaste) and buys a toothbrush from the grocery store and brushes their teeth.
or you can buy them the chew toys that claim to make mouths cleaner.
whatever you do do not feed him mints!! they are waaayyy bad for dogs.
feed him a different brand of dog food. that might have something to do with it too.
