Conceit is not misbelief.

The word conceit is most often used in past tense, "conceited".

"He is so conceited", to mean "he thinks too much of himself".

"Conceit" without 'ed'" is not used daily in sentences, but you'd use it if referring to someone's conceited attitude. "Your conceit is offensive."

"It is a popular conceit (misbelief) that New York is larger than Tokyo"

"X suffers from conceit" meaning X is stuck on himself.
