I need help on hiding my Cat.My mom moved us into an apartment that allowed Cats (pets) in October,Just recently (Last Friday) the owners of the building changed their mind and my mom already got rid of my other 2 kitties.I can't loose my last Cat I love him too much.I don't know what to do tho because the owner's are gonna be selling the place and the people who own the building now made it perfectly clear to my mom that she is not to have any Cat or Pet.Now the problem is the Owners of the apartment also own the Deli downstairs from the apartment. And also they are gonna be bringing people up here showing them the building,Idk where I can hide my kitty at..I don't wanna have to get rid of him but if they catch him here we're gonna be in big trouble can anyone tell me where would be a safe and good place to keep the Cat while the owners have people in my apartment showing them it?

I forgot to mention,I only have 1 relative living near by (My aunt) and she already said she will not hide the cat,and all of my friends have Dogs =( it's a pretty sad situation and I don't think the landlords have any right on changing the rule now etheir but my mom see's it differantly =( The owners of our apartment are very cruel to animals they got a cat to put in their Deli just so it will catch mice for them and it did the job and now they leave the cat in the yard attached to the Deli whenever they are at the Deli and whenever they feel like that.

Good luck on this one! Cat's love to look out the window. It is next to impossible to hide a cat. If you put the cat in a closet it will scratch to get out. You will have to let someone kitty sit if you know when the owners are going to bring someone up. Maybe you and your Mom can find a new apt.

I don't know how it works in your state however you can try using what is known as the "Grandfather clause" Meaning that since when your mother signed the contract for the apartment pets were allowed they can not legally do anything about you having a cat there until the lease is up.After that technically they can. However if your mother thinks she really wants to keep the cat, that should give her plenty of time to find another place and not breaking the lease. Or if she wishes to move now they can not hold her to that lease due to the changes made. If the new landlords are not willing to do either......consult a lawyer, many will give free advice over the phone and if they say this is indeed a law in your state and the landlord still does not give in, consult your local or state housing board. Good luck and it all depends on how much your mother wishes to keep the kitty.

we have a cat in our apartment and it's not allowed either. My boyfriend rescued him and after a couple days, we just couldn't part with the little guy.
When the owner shows people around, they actually come into your apartment? so that means you're not there when it happens? Well, either way... if you are home when it happens, hide him in your room, and ask your mom to cover for you and say you're sick and can't be bothered. that'd only work once though. since the owner has to give you warning before coming it, maybe take the cat to a friend's house that day and just pick him up when the owner's gone?
the owner for our building doesn't come in here, so we don't have to worry too much, only when the cat sits in the window and can be seen clearly lol. we've been lucky.
good luck

Hey, I ran into this problem at an apartment I lived at but we were only allowed one cat and we ended up with two. Whenever our landlord would come over we would hide one of the cats(the one he didn't know about) in another room. When we got to the end of our lease and decided to move to a place where we didn't have to worry about this we would bring our cats out to our car and sit in the car with them with the music on and heat of course so they wouldn't get cold, while the landlord showed the apartment. It worked for us. If you or someone you know has a car, try it. You only need to sit in the car til the landlord leaves, then hold your cat in a blanket or something that hides him/her and bring him/her back in.
I Wish you the best of luck. I couldn't give up my cats either and went all lengths to keep them.

I'm with lurats on this one. Your whole family can be put out just about this cat - and since your mom got rid of the other cats pronto, it does not seem like they take any priority, or that she's likely to move. She's not going to be im,pressed at you putting them at risk of having to move if the owner finds out.
Consider finding them another home, it's a very hard decision, but not as hard as if your cat manages to get out and the new owner fiugures it's a stray and hurts it. It's not worth taking a chance on - see if you an find kitty another home.

I tried hiding a cat once. It failed miserably. Our kitty _never_ spent any time sitting in windows, but once we moved into a place that didn't allow kitties, that's the only place she would be consistently. It didn't take long before someone saw her and reported us. It took us nearly a year to get out of all the trouble that caused.
Short answer: it won't work. Sorry. :(

There are cat boarding places, usually used by people who go on holidays. Can get a bit pricey though. Do you live in Sydney Australia. If so you can e-mail me and maybe I can help you. Otherwise I think a cat boarding place is your only option if no one can do you a favour!

With a neighbor, relative or friend. That's the only safe place for your cat, until you can find a better place to live.
Good luck.

Do you have family or friends you can leave the cat with. That is so sad I don't think they have the right to back down on the pet rule. Good luck
