I agree with Niki - give your mom the phone #s and email addresses to moh and bridesmaid, so they can share ideas,
planning, and guest lists.
Make sure you are registered before the wedding shower
so people don't give you ridiculous presents [ and they will! ]

I have heard and read that it is considered poor etiquette for an immediate family member to host the shower. It's considered impolite for the family to request gifts for the bride. Personally, in your situation I don't think it is a big deal. Your really aren't left with many other options. I wouldn't be too concerned with it.

I've read multiple times that it's bad etiquette to have family members throw a shower because it looks like family scrounging for gifts.

Anyone can throw the wedding shower except the bride and groom.

no, actually that is not proper and quite tacky. Your mom can help out on the side but should not be the one throwing the party. Anyone else can. Maybe a sister, friend, or aunt.

definitly, my moh had a missions trip to zambia so she handed the duty to throw my shower to my mum, your mum will be honored to throw your wedding shower as mine was.

Since your MOH cant throw it, then it would be okay for your mom to do it. Congrats.

Of course! Where I'm from, it's usually the MOB or MOG who does this, not the bridesmaids.
