I have my VISA card and a taxi company charged me last July about $500 which I did not use. I called VISA last August and they said they will examine it. But I'm in foreign country and couldn't answer their phone after the examine they did. Then last month, I finally called them back and they said the have my signature for the $500 so I said I need to see it and they sent me the signature and it does look same with mine but I'm 100% sure that I did not used $500 for taxi. First of all, I have never been to the place where the taxi went to.
VISA company said they can't do anything anymore because the bill is too long time ago and if I wanted to do something with it, I need to do with police or the taxi company.

Has anyone experienced same or similar thing? What did you do?

You waited too long. Usually if you see a discrepancy in your bill you need to act right away, even if you called them back in August. It's being 9 months already, you can try and call them back, but you need it to resolve the matter right when you first notice it. I believe it is not yours and probably they do too. But when you wait too long there is so little that can be done. Somebody have to pay the 500 for the taxi company and its not going to be Visa. First thing you need to do is file a fraud or Identity theft complaint with the authorities in your country. Then file a claim with the Visa company to see if they eliminate this do to the fraud or if they can reduce something or make a payment arrangement if they are not willing to reduce this amount also send them a copy of the complaint you made. From now on look at your statement weekly over the Internet and as soon as you received by mail and if you see anything that you haven't use report it right away. Change your passwords and request another card. This companies also have a way to let you know there's being a charge to your card that exceeds a certain amount. Hope this help!

I have had similar situations, wherein someone was taking my credit card out of my purse and using it all the time; I just call the 800 # and tell them it was unauthorized - they credit it back with "provisional credit" and I sign a paper that they mail to me, which I give them more details - of the things I didn't authorize. It wasn't a taxi though - it was gas stations, classes, things like that. They can't make you pay for something you didn't use.

Call Visa again. Ask to speak with a manager. Don't just take the word of the telemarketer on the phone. Keep going as high as it takes to get this mystery solved.

Get in contact with the credit reporters (experian) and have them send you your free credit report. If the charge appears on the report then you can use the credit reporting company to dispute the charges. Especially if your identity was stolen.

Since you're a minor, you should have your parents file a complaint against the Bank . If they do not get a reply, then have them file a complaint with the Banking Commissioner.
