sometimes i rest enjoying the peace ... other times i get back to my business ...

Whatever is right in front of me that can be done without overstepping my boundaries. If it's within my range of responsibility, I do it.

I trust that God will use my positive action toward good that I cannot see.

Many times the solution to a problem is too far off. Or what it would take to reach the goal is overwhelming. I just have to do what I can where I am, and leave the results of my efforts in His hands.

I think that's why Jesus used so many farming analogies. The farmer has no idea what conditions will arise after he plants. There is now way to account for all the contingencies. What is certain is that if you don't plant, you won't yield a harvest. So you plant, and you tend and you leave the rest in God's hands. He gives the increase.

Where people get into trouble, as far as I can see, is in trying to control the uncontrollable and getting burned out in life, or in expecting God to do everything for them without their cooperation.

It's like the old saying, "Pray, but row toward the shore."

"When God answers prayers, that is seldom the end of the matter."

... a sentence from the introductory material of a book I read about 20 years ago titled "What Happens When God Answers?" This book, the sequel to "What happens when women pray," points out that the answer to prayer usually presents some course of action. Prayer is not passive but can involve significant action.

Paul describes Epapharas' prayer using a Greek word which commonly referred to gladiators battling in the arena for the entertainment of Rome's elite. -- Colossians 4:12 "Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured." (NIV)

How can prayer be compared to fighting in the arena? This is certainly NOT a passive, meaningless pastime, but an activity to which the early Christians dedicated significant time and energy.

First off, when I am in prayer, I am totally at peace because it is very personal between myself and my Savior. He knows my heart and hears my prayers and I thank Him for what He has done for me and what He is going to do.
My burden is lifted and I wait upon Him to take care of my concern.

After prayer not much can be done or should be done. God has promised to meet all of the needs of those who love him. He can handle things immeasurably better than we can.

Get on with life and leave whatever it is with Him. We're told not to worry about things so that's what i do. I go to Him and then leave my worries at the foot of the cross.
