found a dog and it wont leave?

i left the door wide open and it wont go

it has a collar but no tag
the shelter is closed

Maybe the dog likes you. If the dog has a collar or tags take it to the humane society.If you keep the dog more than 3 days the dog is yours.You can still feed, water, love and name him, but if you don't want poor little Fido, don't kick him out.Take him where he'll be loved. You can even sell him. It is all up to you.

Check for a collar. If it has a collar and a tag, contact its owner. If not, take it to a local shelter. They have night and weekend areas where you can cage the dog in if they are closed. It could get killed on the road! You'll feel really bad if you kick it out and see it dead on the side of the road!

If it has a collar and adress tag, take him to his home. If not, take it to a no-kill shelter. But ring local vets/council to make sure no one has reported it missing.
You shouldn't simply try to get it out of your house, dogs dont have to much traffic sence, and he could get run over. Keep him in the house - or try to get him in the backyard (try using food) until you figure out what to do.

Its funny about the animal world. They sense things that we don't. They hear things that we cant hear. They smell and see things that we cant. They have automatic responses to their senses and even emotions. I don't believe in coincidences. So in my opinion, there is a reason why the dog is there. Perhaps it feels safe with you. Maybe it likes your company. The right decision is up to you. You could see the dogs decision to stay as a compliment in trusting you. Perhaps out of desperation from loneliness, abandonment, or hunger. Question. Do you want a dog?
