We had a relatively long-term relationship, but he and I have now been broken up for over a year. While our relationship was rocky for a while, we are friends now, although we don't see each other that much. I get along with him really well and I love swimming, but I'm afraid that it would be awkward, especially if it was just him and I. There was a lot of sexual and romantic tension in the months after we broke up, and I worried that it would be awkward for me to be around him when he is shirtless/ him see me in a bathing suit (especially since we don't see each other much). I don't want there to be any romantic tension, just a fun time swimming. We started talking about places we could go when it gets warmer..should I go swimming with him, or should we think of something else to do?

To clarify, I'm not worried about him taking advantage of me in the least, otherwise I wouldn't consider going swimming at all. I'm not really worried about him wanting to get back into a relationship, because that's really unlikely. I'm more worried that it will be awkward or silent, like we won't know how to act toward each other.

Tell him to be shirtless when he picks you up for the date (or whatever you want to call it), but to have a shirt *and* trunks in the car. Warn him you're going to be in your swimsuit, and that when he gets there, you're going to stand and try to talk like adults for 5 or 10 minutes. (Whether you stand in your backyard, in your front room, on the back or front porch, depends on your dwelling's layout and exposure to the street.) Then if what y'all are wearing makes the two of you tense, you'll go with the alternate plan (and go inside to change), but if not, you'll go swimming.
Recommended first remark so that nothing you say afterward will seem difficult: Hey, you're looking good; have you been working out (more)?

I going swimming with my ex all the time,lol, after we broke up it was reallllllly weird for about 5 months, now he is like my best guy friend. Just go, if it gets awkward just leave and say that u dont want to get back into a relationship with him.
