Liked someone WAY older than you, even though u kno it will never happen? Heres my situation,
Im 14
I like a guy whos 24
were in a show together, but hes not gay. We talk alot, and he acts a little flirty with me, but i think it may be because he knows i like him, and he thinks its cute. I know this cant happen, but how do i get over this, or deal with it another way? I cant focus on another guy, because im homeschooled, the only child in the show, and take dance with all girls.
What do i do?

Oh man, I remember having crushes! I wouldn't be 14 again for anything -- crushes are the worst.

You have a crush on this guy and honey, I'm sorry to tell you, I think the only way to get over it is to go through it. It will wear off in time and you'll find another guy, believe me.

You sound quite mature and you type properly! You seem to understand that this 'romance' can't happen -- but you know what? There's no harm in a little day dreaming...as long as you don't let it run your entire life.

Make sure you stay interested in other things, hobbies, books, friends, whatever. You will get over this guy, I promise!

Good luck!

The truth is that you will get over it even if you don't think you can't. Pretend that you are three times older than you are now and looking back at what is happening now. Do you realy think that you and he are going to fall magically in love, marry, have kids and be still together and happy when you are 42 and he is 52. If he isn't still in jail for statutory rape he might be dead. You won't always be home schooled and you won't always have a crush on this guy. He's just one of the few guys available for you to crush on. IF he is the one then when you are legal and his age he will still be around and then there will be no problem with you being 24 and him being 34 but that is then and this is now. What you do is get over it and let life introduce you to the many guys that you will know through out your dating years until you find the right guy many many years from now.

It is perfectly normal to like or "have a crush" on an older man at your age. As long as it stays at just this level - then it is fine. I hope that this 24 year old man has the common sense not to consider dating with you. In the most common of slangs, "Honey, you are jail bait." Dating can be such a complicated thing. I don't know how comfortable you are talking to your mother, but you may want to have a discussion with her about boys. It would be helpful if you could get involved in some co-ed activities.

My husband is 9 years older than me so I know what you're talking about. But you're only 14 so trust me in a few weeks you'll like someone else. That's how that works. And if he's a decent person than he's probably just giving you attention because he thinks it's cute as you said. If he actually likes you than he's a creep and you need to get away from him. But more than likely he just sees you as a cute little girl who has a crush on him and nothing more. So just don't fret. Concentrate on the show and don't worry it will pass shortly. I promise

Bad idea to get together with a guy that old. He can be caught on statutory rape. I was 18 and had a mad crush on a guy that was 33. Only difference was I was legal in his case. But look at it this way. When you were born, he was 10. When you are 40 he will be 50. And it can't work out between the age difference at that age. A guy that old has one intention with a 14 year old girl, "Fresh Meat" aka, Sex.

Be really careful dealing with him, because even something innocent could send the wrong signs, and put him in jail. It is not easy to just forget about him but take it one day at a time occupying your mind with other things. By the time you are 18, and old enough to date him, you will have someone else on your mind.

Just keep being friendly and don't let anything happen.
Keep in mind that a guy of 24 who is interested in a 14 y/o girl has serious problems. That does not say that you are not beautiful, but the difference to much too much.

There's nothing wrong with having a healthy crush on someone. What you have to realize is that you will ruin his life and yours if it goes any further than a crush. He could end up in jail and your parents would be livid with you if you or him acted inappropriately. Find a nice boy your age.
