Explorer.exe file crashes repeatedly in WinXP?

Hi all,
I was hoping someone could help me out here.
I'm running windowsXP SP2. My "Explorer.exe" file wont run.LEaving my desktop empty.There are no icons,and my taskbar is gone as well.

I've tried the CTRL + ALT + DEL, > New Processes>Explorer.exe method. But my explorer just comes,then it crashes in less than 5 seconds.

My AVG + HijackThis + AdAware combo didnt work either.I've read in forums that reinstalling my entire system may not necessarily solve the problem.Any more suggestions?

I have also tried the system restore. Nothing worked.

if explorer messes up, try system restore on an earlier date. This method has only a success rate of 25%. Reformat and reinstall your windows is your best shot.

I think you could use a Windows Repair.

First, I suggest you go into Safe Mode and run your antivirus program and Ad-Aware.

Then, go for the Repair. These links will explain it to you.

The system hive on OEM installations creates passwords and user accounts that did not exist previously. This article assumes that typical recovery methods have failed and access to the system is not available except by using Recovery Console. If an Automatic System Recovery (ASR) backup exists, it is the preferred method for recovery. Microsoft recommends that you use the ASR backup before you try the procedure described in this article.

Note Make sure to replace all five of the registry hives. If you only replace a single hive or two, this can cause potential issues because software and hardware may have settings in multiple locations in the registry.
