Why don't you invest in a dictionary before investing in the needle.
You are by far one of the dumbest people ever to grace yahoo answers.
Goodnight and good luck.

You need a 14 gauge triple bezel HOLLOW needle, and a 14 gauge, 7/8 in long barbell. wipe your tongue off with clean gauze, mark the upper and lower holes, place tongue in pennington clamps, and push through. I am a professional body modification artist, and I don't like scare tactics people are telling you. After 10 yrs, I have never seen an infected tongue, since human saliva has enzymes to break down infectious agents, and I've never chipped the enamel on my teeth with my piercing. You can't paralyze your face or bleed to death by hitting a nerve or blood vessel. Hell, my daughter bit her tongue damned near off, and the doc didn't do anything, said it would heal back, and it did. Tongues heal within 10-14 days. The long barbell is to allow your tongue room to swell. After that, it can be changed to a shorter one. That being said, HAVE IT DONE PROFESSIONALLY. There are reasons why you have to be licensed, one being health issues. You don't want Hepatitus, or any other blood born illness. and the needles are specially made, and hard to come by individually. Also, the professional knows where to place it, and will insure that it is done properly. Please don't try this on your own, it's not that expesive to have it done!

I personally would not try doing that on my own, because piercing can be dangerous if you are not experienced in that field. The tongue, especially, is a difficult piercing to do. The tongue has a lot of nerves and veins connected to it and excessive bleeding and infection can occur when piercing. Try and get a professional to do it.

I know this probably isn't the answer you are looking for...it's a very very bad idea. You would more than likely get an infection, and have a hard time getting the peircing through. I got my done professionaly and trust me, it didn't hurt, but infection in the tongue is very very serious.

Don't do it! You have a lot of blood vessels [ hemorrhage ] and nerves in your tongue that you could damage [ permanently ].
Then there is the risk of infection because the tongue has those juicy blood vessels....
P.S. a tongue ring can also damage your teeth and enamel, but that happens later...

You should NOT do it yourself...there is a vein that runs through your tongue and if you puncure it, it would be very bad!! Go to a professional! That IS the only way.

you probably will get an infection ... ( but you'd need a needle , a barbel , and a clean pair of hands ) .. if you never done this before id advise you to get someone else to do it ,, maybe a friend
