I have a combination of my father's surname and my exhusband's. More than likely, you already legally have your father's surname, so if you want to comemorate your mom, you may use her name.

traditionally it should be your father's name, but it's becoming more and more acceptable to acknowledge your mother's family as well.

I'm seconding the suggestion to get both =D Or maybe compromise and have one with symbols from both?

Well it comes from your dad...but if you find both perhaps the artist can draw something up to include both of them.

whichever name you carry is correct .however, if you wish to honor your mom's family or their heritage, you could use you mom's, but it would be kind of weird.

Why not get one of each?
