Not by a long shot. My 12 year old got through 100 pages of "The Mists of Avalon" this morning.

No my friend your not the only one that feels this away. However we need to do something about that feeling. We have the story of the sower who went out to sow the word of God.Some fell on good ground and brought forth a harvest some fell on bad ground and brought forth nothing. As Christians we are the Lords field. He sows His word into our hearts so that we may have a harvest to feed those who have nothing spiritually to eat.A farmer before he puts his seed in the ground testes the ground to see what is needed to bring forth a good crop.He will use fertilizers and a weed control product etc.We as Christians must do the same thing. We must check our hearts for things that would be harmful for the seed (God's Word) that God wants to sow in our hearts. There was many things that was causing me to feel this away.Just one for an example was the television.I watched things that were not appropriate and these things hindered the word of God from being sown the way it needed to be.I like the news but on Sunday morning I avoid it because if I don't I find myself in church thinking about the war in Iraq instead of concentrating on what is being said.

Well it is, However I personally am a spiritual Christian. I read the Bible as close to daily as possible and meditate as much on His word as I am able and throughout the day I enjoy spending time talking with and thanking Him for what He has already done. Once in a while I go to church but God's main objective is to fellowship with us. And work us into useful vessels to further the Kingdom of Heaven. Take care and may God bless you spiritually.

well, i am christian.
but i really agree with you.
somE CHURCHES are just plain boring. thank God mine isn't.
the Bible says in 1 corinthians9:22 - To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all [men], that I might by all means save some.
if the church really becomes all things to all men, to relate to the nonbelievers in everything that it does, would the church be boring? answer is no. my church relates to the non-believers. if they are weak, we help them and go through it with them. if they like a certain activity, we will give it to them, of course NOT DILUTING THE GOSPEL IN ANY WAY. we still preach the full Gospel to them and have seen a lot of salvations.
but some churches just wan to stay in their comfort zones, in their own cultures. when people come into these churches, of course they will find it so "exclusive" that it is boring and inapplicable.
churches are supposed to be relevant and fun. not "exclusive and boring".
at tthe same time, not exchanging the Gospel for the fun.

On some occasions, I often think it is as well, but i constantly remind myself of this - What you put into your church experience is what you will get out of it. If you go to church with a mentality that "this is boring", then it will remain boring. If, however, you assert a more enthusiastic mentality, and you really see church as a means of deepening your spirituality and connecting more deeply with God, then you'll be surprised to see how exciting church can be. :)

It can be boring at times. Fortunately, I have a very funny pastor that uses "props" to get his point across and keeps us focused. My husband sleeps during service :)
This has nothing to do with the question but In response to Peanut Butter:
Jesus may have attended "worship" services on the sabbath but I really don't think he was into "religion" itself.
Jesus was really against the Pharisees (religious people) and had a lot of things to say about their behavior.
The Sanhedrin (religious people) are the ones who rejected Jesus when there was a choice between Barabbas being set free and Jesus being put to death. They said "crucify him" for blasphemy of proclaiming he was the Son of God. They felt that crucifixion for his proclamation was just cause and that a "convicted" criminal - a threat to society - should go free.

To declare all churches boring is to suggest that you're going to stop eating food because you don't like brussel sprouts. There are many, many, different churches which have a proper view of God. Within these churches are many different styles. Before you declare church to be boring, try the different ones in your area.

I agree with Eds, maybe you're in the wrong church.
I love going to church and hate leaving, it's a Sunday celebration. You can hear the sermons on the web if you like,
www.cothag.com
Or Dr. Linder's church. www.churchwithoutwalls.com

Peanut Butter,
Maybe you are attending the wrong church. We have two wonderful preachers that are as different as nite and day. When either of them is absent there are always young men who step in to assist. We have wonderful sermons that are filled with scriptural references and TRUTH. Have a great week!
Thanks,
Eds
.
EDIT:
Kaltharion needs to reade the BIBLE. Jesus was never against organized religion. HE attended regular worship services on sabbath days from what we are told.

You're supposed to WORSHIP. It is not a time for entertainment. It is a serious thing. And you get out of it what you put into it. If you go for the wrong reason (to socialize, to meet people, etc.), of course you'll find it boring! If you go to reverence the Lord, you'll feel differently about it.

Pray about where the Lord would have you worship. Maybe it's time to change churches. Find one that is dynamic and exciting and meets your needs. There are lots of contemporary evangelical churches out there that might provide a more exciting experience for you.
blessings :)
