I suspect you're trying to use batteries that will power the flashlight longer.

A lantern battery produces 6 volts.

To match the voltage, this will only work in a flashlight that uses four 1.5 volt batteries. Those batteries could be AA, C, or D cells.

Assuming the four cells are inserted "end-to-end", you'll simply attach the + and - leads from the lantern battery to the top and bottom contacts inside the flashlight.

To hold the wires in place, I'd use four "dead" batteries as spacers. Simply apply tape on the top and bottom of the middle two batteries. This way the top of the top battery and the bottom of the bottom battery can be used to ensure a good connection against the contacts.

The hard part will be getting the wires from the lantern battery inside the flashlight.
