When you look, you have an intention of finding something, while when you see, there's no purpose behind it.!

When you look, you are looking at the object.

When you are seeing it, you are taking what you have looked at, and realized all that it means to you, memories, thoughts and feelings.

Then, you can take the step further and realize that all of that has nothing to do with the object, but is all the accumulated internal baggage you attached to the object.

Then go further and eliminate all that, and just sit and look at the object itself, and see it for what it really is...

"Awareness"...

Have you ever looked at a photograph and then examined it closer and noticed things that you had never seen?...

How about watching a movie for the second (or 40th) time and noticing something that you had never noticed?

It is our awareness that is the difference.. it has to be trained...

It is like when Jesus' Apostles did not recognize Jesus in His resurrected body (it was perfected and not quite the same I guess).. until He spoke to them.. and they ALL recognized His voice (maybe not Doubting Thomas.. he had to feel the marks first)...

Staring off into the distance, not really looking at anything.. you are looking but not seeing.

"Looking" is seeing things on the outside while "seeing" is seeing the inside.
